SATURDAY FREEBIE CARD

Hello & Welcome
Today's 'freebie' is a 7" square, top folding card
  • I added the pretty eau de nil (Docrafts  Papermania Capsule Collection/Eau de Nil) paper to the card leaving a small white border
  • The Heraldic Square Die Set (Creative Expressions) was die cut and embossed on white card, I omitted the inner cutting die which gave me the ornate, one piece focal point, then added adhesive to the back and positioned onto the centre of the card
  • Red line tape was added to either side of the 'heraldic square' and a string of ornate pearls (my stash) adhered to it
  • I added 3 peach roses and white filler flowers (my stash) to the bottom of the card and two pearls to the top right of the card
  • The sentiment is from Hero Arts Poppy Stamp Set and I stamped and embossed it using a clear embossing pad and  WOW Metallic Copper Embossing Powder
  • I have added the same paper inside the card but without a verse as the winner of the card may want to add their own
If you would like to own this card just leave me a comment below, please remember anonymous comments cannot be entered, you will need to leave some kind of identification.  You have until 9.30am Monday to comment then a winner will be picked using Random.org Name/Number Picker

FESTIVE FRIDAY 9

Hello & Welcome....
Here we are again with another Festive Friday, where have those weeks gone?!
I had planned to make an all white Christmas card for today but as you can see by the photograph it didn't happen
  • I made a top folding 7" square white card base and on checking my card stock came across this really pretty delicate ecru glitter card so that was my all white card blown out of the window!  I cut a smaller panel of this card and adhered it to the card base
  • Another smaller panel was cut in white card and I used one of the double pierced oval dies to die cut the centre then embossed the card.  As this was going to be added to the glitter card I used a PVA acrylic glue to adhere it in place
  • I then die cut and embossed the oval centre piece, applied a dries clear glue onto the snowflakes and covered them with glitter jewels 3D foam was added to the back of the oval and smaller pieces into the centre of the snowflakes and adhered to the card.  I die cut the sentiment 3 times on white card, glued them together, applied acrylic glue to the back and placed it in the centre of the oval frame
  • Six poinsettias were die cut in white card, glue applied to the centre of  three flowers and the remaining 3 were added to them.  I used spray glue over each one and sprinkled glitter jewels on them
  • To complete I added a piece of white tulle just under the two snowflakes then a double bow using 3mm double faced satin ribbon on top of the tulle and, finally,  one of the flowers on top .  One other flower was glued to the top right of the card and I decided to double up with the remaining third flower.  I added the crystal centres to each flower and have yet to add a verse
INGREDIENTS:
  • White card stock ~ Papermill Direct
  • Ecru glitter card ~ my stash
  • Let It Snow Embossing Folder ~ Crafter's Companion
  • Double Pierced Oval Die ~ Creative Expressions (CE)
  • Peeking Snowflake Die Set ~ CE
  • Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear PVA Glue ~ CE
  • Iced Snow Glitter Jewels ~ CE
  • Poinsettia die ~ my stash
  • Spray Glue ~ Crafter's Companion
  • White Tulle ~ CE
  • Satin ribbon ~ my stash
  • Diamond centres on flowers ~ CE
  • Platinum Machine ~ Spellbinders

I look forward to seeing you back tomorrow for our give-away card, and my apologies to the two ladies from last Saturday's post, who commented, your cards are now in the post!

    Until tomorrow....

NEW CHALLENGE AT MAWTT - #55 GEOMETRIC SHAPES

Hello & Welcome....

#55  Geometric Shapes

The new challenge starts today for Team B at Moving Along With The Times (MAWTT) and
Jan S is our host.  Jan has chosen geometric shapes and she has said....  "I looked it up on Google which states that "a geometric shape is anything that when rotated, still remains the same", may be a good one for mens' cards, but I'll leave it entirely up to you"

This is my contribution to Team B....

  • I started with a piece of A4 sherbet coloured card stock, scored it in half portrait style and placed my die so the the top of it was a fraction above the score line as I wanted it to be a top folding card
  • I then used a craft knife to cut the middle out of the card but to also leave a narrow border as shown above
  • I added adhesive around the outer and inner frame and sprinkled glitter jewels on them
  • A Memory Box Die was used to die cut the white decorative swirl and black gems were added to the flower centres
  • I stamped the 'Just Because' sentiment with a black onyx ink pad and covered it with a clear embossing powder and heat set it
  • The sentiment on the card front was also stamped using the same ink pad and stamped onto acetate and die cut with a tag die.  I also die cut a backing on sherbet card using the same tag die then adhered both together then onto the card front.  I followed the curved line of the tag and adhered small white pearls down the curved side
INGREDIENTS:
  • Sherbet Foundation Card ~ Creative Expressions (CE)
  • Glitter Jewels ~ CE
  • Floral Circle Die ~ Memory Box
  • Card Shaped Die ~ unknown, my stash
  • Just Because Sentiment ~ unknown
  • Main sentiment ~ ?freebie stamp
  • Black Onyx Ink Pad ~ Versafine
  • Clear Embossing Powder ~ WOW
  • Tag Die ~ CE
  • White Pearls ~ CE
  • Platinum Die Cutting Machine ~ Spellbinders
If you click on the link at the beginning of this post it will take you to MAWTT where you'll see the fabulous cards made by Team B and you just may want to enter your card in the challenge

Until tomorrow's Festive Friday....

TUTORIAL TUESDAY .... BIRTHDAY WISHES

Hello & Welcome

We have a white 5"x7" card for today's tutorial using a few products by Crafter's Companion and, above, is the finished card....
  • I placed paper into my MISTI and arranged the sentiment and flower, once in situ I ran my anti-static container over the area, inked the stamps then stamped onto the insert

  • The card was then placed into the MISTI, dusted with my anti-static container and the 3 stamps placed in situ and inked
  • I stamped the sentiment last as I wanted the ink wet prior to sprinkling clear embossing powder over it and heat setting it.  The result is a lovely glossy sentiment that is also slightly raised to the touch

  • I coloured all the leaves first with 061 then 052 and the shaded areas with 050 pencils  finally blending the colours with 052

  • 024 was used to colour the flowers and 027 for the highlighted areas.  I blended the two colours again with 024 and my card was completed

INGREDIENTS:
  • White card ~ Craft UK
  • Spectrum noir Primaries ~ Crafter's Companion (CC)
  • Beautiful Bloom Unmounted Stamp Set ~ CC CC-ST-BB
  • Umount (to add to the unmounted stamps) ~ Woodware
  • Versafine Onyx Black Ink Pad ~ Tsukineko
  • Crimson Archival Ink Pad ~ Ranger

Hello & Welcome

Today is the last day for posting baby cards celebrating the new addition to the family.  This is our card to the new parents
  • I scored a piece of A4 white card stock to create an A5 card.  I typed the words; baby, adorable, boy and yours.... although I now wish I'd typed beautiful instead of boy
  • die cut 4 circles, the 'baby' letters and the accessories
  • Mounting foam was applied to the back of the circles and adhered to the card and the letters glued in place onto the circles
  • I die cut the little sailing boat twice, once on blue card and again on white card.  With the white image I cut the bottom of the boat away and glued the remaining white sails onto the blue boat.  The accessories were adhered, flat, onto the card
  •  As I had typed directly onto the card base I used a fine micron pen, in black, and drew a 'wobbly' (great technical name) border, twice, onto the card.  It really did make a lot of difference!
  • I completed the card with a personal verse and the new mum loved the card
INGREDIENTS:
  • White card stock ~ Papermill Direct
  • Blue card, plain and patterned ~ my stash
  • Baby letters ~ Spellbinders
  • Double hearts ~ Spellbinders
  • Die cut circles ~ Creative Expressions (CE)
  • Duck, boat and lion dies ~ CE

FIRST STAGE!

Hello & Welcome

I'm back with just a quick photo of the dried Crystal Drops and you can now see the 'before' and 'after' shots LOL
Before the Crystal Drops had dried

I didn't finish this card until this morning and kept going back to it as I thought something was missing and decided to add NuVo Crystal Drops to it (I do love them) but, a little tip here, don't add them then take a photograph, otherwise your card will look as if you've added pearl gems to it, as mine does on the hanging flowers LOL.  They are taking an age to dry so when they do I'll add another photograph to let you see the 'finished look'

  • I started with a 12.5cm square kraft card and die cut the back edge.  I trimmed the front right edge  of the card to show the die cut edge

  • I embossed the card front and added some colour to the centre of it using a smoothie that still had plenty of colour on it from a previous card

  • An Inklined Digi Stamp  was used for the floral display and coloured using several Spectrum AQUA pens.  I used an oval die to cut out the imaged then decided not to use it  on the card and 'fussy cut' it instead

  • I added 3D glue to the back of it and placed it onto the card front.  I used the 'cut off' from the oval die cut, trimmed the sides to fit the card front then coloured it using a Distress Oxide ink and a blending tool

  • To 'complete' I added the crystal drops but have yet to add a verse

INGREDIENTS:
  • Kraft Card ~ Crafter's Companion (CC)
  • Edgeabilities Die ~ Spellbinders
  • Charlotte Border Die ~ Memory Box 98242
  • Brick Wall Embossing Folder ~ Darice
  • Digi Stamp ~ Inklined
  • Blossom, Begonia, Spice, Sunset, Sunflower, Gold, Fawn, Heather, Bud Green & Evergreen aqua pens ~ CC
  • Walnut Stain/Distress Oxide Ink ~ Ranger
  • NuVo Crystal Drops/Morning Dew ~ Tonic Studios
Until tomorrow....

A LITTLE 'SMOOSH' AND WASHI TAPE

Hello & Welcome

We have a little 'smooshing technique' for you today.  Not everyone's cup of tea I know,  but I think it's a great background that you can make quickly and one that fits the bill for the males in your life, with a change of colour inks!

Three cards, same inks on all and three very different backgrounds!

I also think using this technique is a good background for the males in your life, although you may want to use different colour tones! lol

Both cards are a white, top folding card with a smaller panel in dark brown (the remains of the brown card from yesterday's post)

  • I glued the brown panel onto the card base then started to create the 'smooshing technique on the top white panels
  • I used the same 3 distress inks, rubbed the inks onto my craft mat and spritz them with water
  • Using a piece of acetate I picked up the 'victorian velvet' ink then applied it to the card base.  Dried the acetate and craft mat and dried the inked card with my heat tool.  I repeated the same steps again with the broken china and then the fossilized amber
  • A piece of washi tape was added to the centre of the card then the panel was ready to adhere to the base card
  • I applied the same technique to the first card, the only difference is I matted and layered different coloured card stock onto the back of the top panel
By applying different strokes to the card will give you a different background altogether and a narrow frame added will also give a different appearance

I have made a video of the bottom card but YouTube is preventing me uploading it on Poppyfield Card Craft's Channel!!

INGREDIENTS:
  • White card base ~ Papermill Direct
  • Brown card stock ~ Creative Expressions
  • Pink card stock ~ my stash
  • Washi tape ~ my stash
  • Distress Oxide Inks in 'broken china and fossilized amber'
  • Distress Ink in 'victorian velvet'
  • Water spritzer bottle
  • Acetate ~ Crafter's Companion
  • Paper towels
  • Craft box basics

FESTIVE FRIDAY 7 AND CARD GIVE-AWAY

Hello & Welcome
Thank you so much for visiting my new blog and hitting the follow button, I do appreciate it

I'm posting two cards today, and as the title states, Festive Friday 7 and yesterday's card give-away.  This will then bring me up to date following on from my original blog

I also have 2 videos on my Poppyfield Card Crafts YouTube Channel, one is from several months ago and I think it was the card I designed as my contribution to the Moving Along With The Times Blog Design Team - MAWTT'Celebrate You Special Day' the second one is a talk through for the two cards I designed using several elements from the free gift with Papercraft Essentials Issue 150

FESTIVE FRIDAY 7

  • The base card is a white 16.5cm square (7")  and I stamped the sentiment, on the side of the card, with a Versafine Ink Pad in Onyx Black. Once stamped I sprinkled a clear embossing powder over it, tapped off the excess and heat embossed it.  Doing this to your stamped sentiment/image gives it a lovely sheen and a little dimension
  • I embossed a piece of blue textured paper with a new embossing folder by John Next Door.I cut a piece of white card to 13cm square (5.5") and embossed it with another of John's new embossing folders.  Using a craft knife I cut away the centre panel and adhered the embossed frame onto the blue paper, mounting foam was added to the back and adhered it to a larger white panel that I also also had mounting foam added to the back of it

  • I covered a piece of white card stock with a piece of double sided adhesive and die cut and embossed 2 Christmas trees.  Then the backing from the adhesive sheet was removed and Glitter Jewels sprinkled over both trees

  • I added wet glue to the back of the larger tree and added it to my card, tucking a little of the trunk behind the frame.  For the smaller tree I added mounting foam to the back, adhered it to the card and also tucked the trunk behind the frame

INGREDIENTS:
  • White card base ~ Craft UK
  • White card stock ~ Papermill Direct
  • Blue textured paper ~ my stash
  • Star Stream Embossing Folder ~ John Next Door (JND)  JNDEF3001
  • Confetti Frame Embossing Folder ~ JND JNDEF3005
  • Merry Christmas Sentiment/Winter Trees ~ JND JND0004
  • Christmas Tree Dies ~ Tonic

SATURDAY SPECIAL ~ GIVE-AWAY CARD

  • I started with a white, 20cm (8") square card base and cut a smaller panel of black card and a smaller panel of white card, glued the two panels together and adhered them to my base card.  Then using my Hougie Board I scored lines both down the right side and bottom of the base card

  • Next I chose one of the Spectrum Noir's Colorista Dark papers and using their metallic pencils had a little fun colouring in the page!  You get 16 pre-embossed designed papers in the pad  This card looks so much prettier in the flesh!  The finished page was then adhered to the card

If you would like to give the card a new home just leave a comment on this post, the winner will be drawn tomorrow, at random, and announced later that day.  You have until 9.30am Monday to leave a comment and remember we do ship internationally.  Nor does it matter if you have won in the past as it is a random draw

  • White card base ~ Craft UK
  • White and black card stock ~ Creative Expressions
  • Hougie Board

CONTINUING THE THEME - THURSDAY'S CARD

HELLO & WELCOME TO THE NEW

POPPYFIELD CARD CRAFT'S BLOG

thankfully we are back again but we have had to create a new blog.  I've kept the same background etc and it would make me so happy if you will join me once again as well as hitting the 'follow' button that is displayed above left of this heading

I am hoping to 'catch up' with posts since my last one on Monday.  There will be a 'give-away' card posted either later today or by tomorrow

This week has proved to be quite draining and a tad upsetting to see my 'original' blog on screen but not being able to access it, due to a technical error, plus spending many hours attempting to rectify the situation to no avail

I didn't want to leave my beautiful niece out of the new baby celebrations, she is Lewis's auntie, so I made this easy card especially for her

I started with a 4" square white card base and typed the sentiment.  Then die cut and embossed the heart and to finalise the card front added the 'sweet baby' to the top right corner

A personal verse was added to complete the card and Laura, my niece, told me she loved it

INGREDIENTS:
  • White card ~ Papermill Direct
  • Heart die ~ Crafter's Companion
  • Sweet baby accessory ~ my stash

This would have been  'Wednesday's' card, there's still more to show for the arrival of the new baby!

I made this to give to my brother and sister in law and Susan tells me it's taking pride of place on their mantle piece :)

I started with an A4 white card base and typed the sentiment  then scored the card to A5

I added the strip of blue paper as shown and from my 'baby pieces container' retrieved and used all the elements you see on the card.  I just love the little pom poms on the socks

I used a corner punch only on the front corners of the card and, again, added a personal verse

This week has proved to be quite draining and a tad upsetting to see my 'original' blog on screen but not being able to access it, due to a technical error, plus spending many hours attempting to rectify the situation to no avail

So here we are again, starting from scratch

On a very happy note there has been an addition to our family this week.  My nephew, Adam and his partner, Amy, had a gorgeous little boy on Sunday, their first baby and first grandchild for my brother and sister in law.  We are going to visit the happy couple later today.... actually we all know it's the baby we're wanting to see LOL

This is the card, commissioned by my sister in law to give to the delighted new parents and would have been Tuesday's card on my original blog

It's an 8" square ivory card base, I added a smaller panel of white card that I embossed

From the shadow box collection I die cut and embossed the frame in blue card as well as the larger frame in ivory card

With the exception of the die cut hearts all the other elements are from the various accessories pertaining to the new arrival/shadow box collection
A personal verse was also added to the card

INGREDIENTS:
  • Ivory card ~ Craft UK
  • White card ~ Papermill Direct
  • Stitched Lattice Frames ~ Shadow Box Collection/Creative Expressions (CE) CED9303
  • 'Love Hearts' Embossing Folder ~ EF079
