FESTIVE FRIDAY 14

Hello, thanks for popping by....

This week's festive card is another quick and easy ensemble in that the scene was on the bottom of a 12" paper pad.  I fussy cut it and glued it to silver mirror card, then adhering to a red card base

I added some extra colour in places then quite a lot of white glitter and 'snow' to complete the card

I did make an envelope to fit but, because of the length, I will be hand delivering this one to a neighbour!

Until tomorrow....

BELIEVE - TEAL AND WHITE

Hello and thanks for stopping by....
I apologise for the lack of information about this card!

My studio/craft room is being reorganised and I've had to 'pluck out' a photo of one of my older cards

I'm sure the 3 white centre pieces are by Spellbinders and the corner and border dies are Creative Expressions

The sentiment is also by Creative Expression

I did not use the outer cutting die for the border and corner tags and once die cut onto teal card I adhered it to white card which gives the pretty contract

Finally just wanted to say "hello and thank you Margaret and Dianne", who are my two new followers

Until tomorrow....

I increased the image, to that shown above, onto watercolour card and coloured it with
watercolour pencils

Once happy with the finished image I created a card base starting with an 8" square white card base, adding a smaller panel of pink card, then a smaller panel of white card.  This top white card was embossed and I added pink ribbon to it

I then die cut the flower then created a frame by die cutting the oval shape 3 times and gluing them together

The image was adhered, off centre, onto the card base and the frame glued onto it

I used a small tag die, die cut white card that had a piece of double sided adhesive added to it, removed the backing sheet and sprinkled white glitter over it

The sentiment was stamped onto the matching pink card and die cut using the same size tag die.  I punched a hole through both tags and placed a pink brad through both.  I added 3D adhesive to the back of the brad and adhered onto my card

To complete I added 'Morning Dew' Crystal Drops to areas on the flowers and leaves

INGREDIENTS:
  • Digi stamp 'Valentine 12' ~ Morgan's Artworld
  • Watercolour card ~ Crafter's Companion (CC)
  • Watercolour pencils ~ CC
  • Oval die set ~ Creative Expressions
  • Tag die ~ Tonic
  • NuVo Crystal Drops ~ Tonic

TUTORIAL TUESDAY - WAX PAPER BACKGROUND

Hello and thanks for stopping by....
This is an easy way to create a background for your card makes and I'm showing you 3 different looks using the same technique.  There will be a YouTube video available later today at:
Poppyfield Card Crafts JF

All the cards are 5"x7" with 3 panels decreasing by an eighth of an inch

Glue the top 3 panels together and set aside

You must use glossy card for this technique

Cut the card to size then scrunch a piece of wax paper tightly then open it out

Place one glossy card face up, cover with the wax paper then place the second glossy card face down

Cover the area with a piece of copy paper then, with a hot, dry iron apply the heat to this area for approximately 1 to 2 minutes
Cover the glossy card with your chosen ink colour then, using a paper towel, polish the card (this removes the excess ink and leaves a shine).  Glue this to the panels then adhere to the card base

On the blue card I added a die cut from the striplet range (Creative Expressions), a swirl of black gems and a sentiment (Chinese Proverb)

The red and black card had black ribbon adhered to it, the sentiment was stamped and heat embossed onto black card, this was then glued to red card, mounting foam added to the back and 3 black gems adhered to the ribbon

The 3rd, white card base, has panels of brown and primrose card.  Once the top panel was coloured and glued to the other panels a yellow ribbon was adhered to it then these were adhered to the main card

Narrow, oblong panels of white, brown and primrose were cut to size and glued together, the sentiment was stamped onto white card with an Archival Ink Pad in Coffee

Until tomorrow....

SPECIAL BIRTHDAY WISHES - CARD WINNER

Hello and thanks for stopping by....

Yesterday was my niece's birthday and this is the card I made for her

I started with an ivory, 18cm square (7") base card and add a panel of 'primrose' card, then black and then the top panel, in primrose, as you can see this top panel was embossed

For the verse I typed, onto lemon paper, 'To Our Wonderful Niece' then, using 2 different stamps, I stamped 'with love' above the typed line and 'awesome, wonderful.... below it.  When I first saw this particular stamp I bought it to use on our grandson's birthday card when he'll be 10 next year

I die cut 4 circular frames in primrose and glued them together and using the smaller of the two circle dies I die cut one black panel

Foam tape was added to the back of the frame and adhered to the card

The sentiment was stamped with a clear embossing ink pad then covered in white embossing powder, the excess tapped off prior to heat setting it.  This was then adhered into the frame

The flowers were die cut, spritzed with water then scrunched and left to dry

I made a narrow bow using white satin ribbon and used both dies in the die set for the ivy

The flowers were then assembled and stamens glued into place.  I lightly brushed the flower heads and stamens with a black ink pen

To complete the card I added white tulle, a white satin ribbon, the largest and smallest flowers to the right of the card and adhered the medium size flower onto the left of the frame

I snipped the black ivy in a few places and adhered them to the top and bottom of the card

The envelope was stamped with the 'Birthday Mail' and the flower stamped twice, second generation stamping for the lighter flower.  I added a little lemon colouring to the flower and green to the leaves

(I did have a titter when your name was picked)

I obviously confused some of you, my lovely followers, on Saturday, by adding the extra post explaining I had "technical problems and lost my follow button etc" as two ladies commented on that post, thinking it was part of Saturday's card.  As they are regular followers I also added their names into the mix

IVORY & BLACK BIRTHDAY CARD

Hello and thanks for stopping by....
Today's card was given to one of my closet friends for her birthday last week.
We've been friends since the first day at school, some 61 years!  She actually married an ex-boyfriend of mine.... and we're still friends LOL

The card is a 20cm square (8") ivory card with a black panel card stock added to the base card.  A slightly smaller ivory panel was embossed and adhered to the black card then onto the card base

The centre die piece (one of my all time favourites) was die cut and embossed in ivory and black card, the black used to give a shadow

I stamped the sentiment onto more ivory card, die cut it and added fun foam to the back for a little dimension

On butterfly, in black card, was die cut and embossed and adhered to the card and 5 small black gems glued onto its spine
Two stamps were used for the verse

The 'Happy Birthday' stamp is, in my opinion, a fabulous stamp to use with a gorgeous font
I think the verse is very beautiful too.  This stamp set is available from 'The Ducks Doodahs' on-line store, there is a link to it on the right side of my blog.  The products are extremely affordable

I had already written  inside the card when I realised I'd not taken the photo!
The only decoration on the envelope, this time, was the 'Birthday Mail' stamp

  • Ivory card ~ Crafter's Companion
  • Black card ~ Creative Expressions
  • Embossing Folder ~ Crafter's Companion
