Hi and welcome, thanks for stopping by....

I don't usually make 'messy' cards but I really enjoyed creating this galaxy background (hubby thought it was fireworks going off LOL... may be I need to practise more)

I used several distress oxide inks for the background, and instead of blending the colours I spritzed water over the inks and dried them with a heat tool.  The colours will blend very nicely when you do this

If you want to add more colour/layers of colours remember to heat dry after you have spritzed with water

I used a circle punch for the moon and cut this with heavy white vellum and white cardstock, glued the two together, adhered to the card and cut the overhang away

A white paint pen was used to create the stars and some random stars were glittered

The base card is 10.5cm x 15cm with a smaller white panel that was embossed

The sentiment was die cut 4 times, glued together prior to adhering to the card, at a jaunty angle

The verse was stamped with a Memento ink pad

Hi and welcome, thanks for stopping by....

I'm making this mini album for a young relation of mine who has recently become engaged.  She doesn't visit my blog so showing it won't be a problem

The album is 6"x7.5" with the front, back and spine made with black, medium weight, chipboard

I've made 5 hinges for the pages and nearly finished the inside cover of the back page LOL

I've used the heart embossing/die cut folder by John Next Door

I'm hoping to be able to finish the album in a few days time and will let you see it all then

This shot shows the hinges for the pages

Hi, thanks for stopping by and welcome to my 'happy place'....

A bright and cheerful card for you today

On a piece of Yupo cardstock I applied one alcohol ink (raspberry) with a blending tool by dabbing it over the cardstock.  I reinked the blending tool with a second colour (peri) and, again, dabbed all over the cardstock.  A further application of alcohol blending solution was added to the blending tool and dabbed over the cardstock

The cardstock was then covered with vellum, this softens the background colour

A sentiment was stamped and heat embossed and a die was used to create a frame around it.  The frame was die cut twice using white then black cardstock and overlapped slightly to give a shadow affect

Another die was used for the black vertical border

Using the same alcohol inks on another piece of vellum numerous die cuts were made for the flowers.  I chose not to assemble the flowers showing the back of the vellum as I wanted a contrast with the background.  The flowers were adhered together with a pearl brad

The smallest leaf die from the set was used for the leaves and I brushed the blending tool over the edge of each leaf.... I know think I should have coloured the whole of the leaf

Hi, welcome and thanks for stopping by.....

The only Christmas related 'tool' for this card is the stamped sentiment!

I started with an 8" square, white base card and added a smaller panel of red cardstock

The next step was to emboss an even smaller piece of white card stock, once done, this one and the red cardstock were adhered to the card base

I die cut 6 of the 'Petite Peony Clusters' in green card and 12 of the flowers in red glitter card.  Two lots of three green die cuts were adhered together then glued, in a circular shape onto the card, to form the 'wreath'

The flowers were shaped, each one having three layers of the red glitter card then a black gem glued in the centre

I die cut the bow twice and glued the centre of the top one onto the bottom bow, then cut two thin strips of the same red glitter card, adhered them behind the the 'tails' of the bow to extend them

The sentiment was stamped with a red ink pad

This shows the gorgeous embossing

A sentiment stamped with the same red ink pad and a little tree stamped on the corner of the card, using the same red ink pad

Today's freebie background stamp

The winner of this stamp will be announced on Sunday's blog

Hi and welcome, thanks for stopping by....

Some of you may remember this card from my 'original blog' (blogspot.com)

This is a white DL card used in landscape to accommodate the sentiment

I used a Martha Stewart Punch to decorate the edge

I still had some wisteria distress ink on my 'splodge away mat' which I spritzed with water and using an ordinary 'sponge' (bought from a certain 'cheap store') I dabbed it into the colour then onto the card.  I repeated this on the inside of the card too and added a little on the envelope

I used one of the stamps from Altenew's 'Crafty Friends' stamp set for the sentiment and  verse.  I stamped the sentiment onto white card with a Versafine Onyx Black Ink Pad and, using a different stamp, from the same set, repeated this for the verse

Mounting foam was added to the back of the sentiment then adhered to the card

I already had a supply of butterflies die cut so I glittered them with Glitter Jewels 'Iced Snow' and adhered them around the sentiment
A very quick and easy card to make once you have all the products at hand!

Hi and welcome, thank you for stopping by....

You may recognise the colour of today's card as it was used in last week's give-away

This is a 7" square white card base with a smaller panel of the gorgeous pearlised teal/aqua card

The pretty white centre piece was die cut and embossed then adhered to the card

The flowers were stamped and die cut, shaped then adhered to the card

The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed onto the same coloured card then adhered to white card

Flat back pearls completed the design

For the inside of the card I used the middle part of the same die for the centre piece and backed it onto the teal/aqua card and adhered it inside the card

The winner of this card may, I suspect, need to 'fluff up' the petals on the flowers after the card has been through the postal system!

If you would like to give this card a new home leave me a comment on this post, you have until 6pm Friday to do so and the winner will be announced on Saturday's blog

It doesn't matter if you have won previously or where you live as we ship internationally

I can't accept 'annonymous' comments for the draw, you will need to leave some form of identification

Hi, thanks for stopping by, welcome to my 'happy place'....

Yesterday was my youngest brother's birthday and this is the card I made for him.  He is also taking early retirement so the stamp set, in this month's magazine, was ideal for me.  Also a double bonus as it will be a 'special' birthday for my eldest brother, at the end of April, and I will be dipping back into these fabulous papers and stamps from this issue for his birthday

I started with a 7" square, ivory base card and used one of the papers and several of the stamps for this card as well as adding a little red card too

In the video I've mentioned that I don't like using the original papers and will photocopy it and keep it as a master.  I do this 99%  of the time but there is that 1% when I will use the original

Hi and welcome to my 'happy place'

I hope are having a lovely 'mother's day'

My apologies for this late post!  It was scheduled for the usual 6am posting but when I checked it's gone!

The flowers on this card are by Heartfelt Creations, it's a stamp and die set and I do love using them.  I must have been 'experimenting' with blog names when I made this card too and, unfortunately, I'm not able to remove it from the photograph

On the original blog post I entered all 4 names from Friday's comments (sorry but I don't think it fair to do it again when a name had already been drawn,)  and
Random.org Name Picker picked....

Hi, welcome to my 'happy place'....

I love when I find items/cards that I made/used a while back and had forgotten about them and this card is one example

I've called it 'faux' festive because, by adding the right sentiment,  it could be a Christmas card, or, it could also be a birthday card for someone who has a 'winter' birthday

It's an ivory, 5"x7" card, top folding, with a smaller panel of black cardstock.  I've used a spray glitter on both the base card and the panel

The scene has been stamped onto the same ivory card, but, prior to stamping, I've distressed the edges, then stamped the image and adhered to the card base then.... put it away (for at least 3 years! LOL)

To give it a bit of life I ran a glue pen on the trees and around the edge of the water then sprinkled Glitter Jewels over the adhesive.  You can see this more so on the card below.  When the light catches the 'glitter jewels' it does look lovely

So there you have my 'faux festive card' (the cards will become more elaborate in time

You can see more of the glitter jewels on this photograph

For some unknown reason I have ended up with two of the above die sets so if you would like to win this set of 11 dies, just leave me a comment on this post and the winner will be announced on Sunday's blog

Hi, welcome to my 'happy place'....

A very easy make for today's card!

I started with an 8" square, white card base and added a smaller panel of black card, then added this beautiful paper onto the black card

The ribbon and stamped sentiment are not as bright as they appear on the photograph!

The sentiment was stamped and embossed and the ribbon was added, I made 2 'fold-overs' on the ribbon then added the strips of pearls as well as on the centres of the 2 main flowers

I used a paper punch for the decorative edge and added another length of the ribbon behind it (I wish it didn't look so red on here LOL)

  • 8" white base card ~ CraftUK
  • black card ~ my stash
  • patterned paper ~ my stash
  • fuchsia ribbon ~ Club Green
  • sentiment stamp ~ Creative Expressions
  • fuchsia embossing powder ~ unknown
  • pearls ~ CE
  • paper punch ~ Martha Stewart
I have changed the font for an easier read as one follower had mentioned she struggled with the smaller print

Instead of a stamp tomorrow I have a die set as a give-away, hope to see you then

Until tomorrow....

Hi, welcome to my 'happy place'....

Using acetate, this way as a card front, gives the impression that either the sentiment and the bottom die cut is 'floating' or, the sentiment is actually on the back/inside of the card

As you can see it is on the card front.  I tweaked the acetate to give a clearer look

I love this shade of pearlised aqua card.  I cut a piece of the card to measure 5.75" x 6.75" (17cm x 14.5cm) and scored the top of the card  at 1", to give me a  (2.5cm) border at the top of the card to glue the acetate in place

Once the top of the acetate was securely adhered to the base of the card the next step was to die cut 2  of the 'double delights adore die'.  These were adhered onto the acetate

The sentiment was die cut 3 times, using the aqua card, but I wanted to have a contrast, and when you look at the back of the acetate, below, you see that I've used the same aqua card

A verse can easily be stamped onto the very back of the card

If you would like to give this card a new home all you need to do is leave me a comment on today's post, you have until 6pm Friday and the winner will be announced on Saturday's post

Please do not leave 'annonymous' if you want to be in the draw, I do need some kind of identification, nickname, initials, Betty from Burnley etc etc

It does not matter if you have won in the past or where you live as we ship internationally

We also use Random.org Name Picker to choose the winner

Hi, welcome to my 'happy place'....

This is another background using the PVA glue, not everyone's cup of tea but I really like it and, I think, an ideal male card, even as a female card with a couple of adaptions!

I made several of the backgrounds, using different colours of glue, one of which is a glitter

It's a 6" square card and I left a border down each side

Three dies were used on the white card to create the horizontal border and, as you'll see on the photo below I did use 5 of the 'candi' pieces, didn't like how it looked when I photographed it so I removed one from each end

The sentiment was stamped onto white cardstock then die cut.  I used double foam mount so that the sentiment would stand proud of the border

Sorry about the glare!
