FESTIVE FRIDAY 29 & STAMP GIVE-AWAY

Morning ladies....

Week 29!  It's quite alarming the way the weeks fly by

Today's card is a little non-traditional.  I started with an ivory DL card and used a Spellbinder's Edger Die for the scalloped edge.  I then cut a piece of red card to sit behind the card front and to just peep out on the scalloped border

I added some lace onto another piece of the same red card and glued it into place then this into place  on the base card

The vintage street light is from a set by Katy Sue Designs and was adhered onto the card.  I used the Tonic Shimmer Pen in the subtle gold to add sparkle to the light and around the outside of the light.  You can see this clearly on the picture below

The sentiment comes from the same set and foam tape was added to the back for dimension

For the inside of the card I used a circle punch on the red card and adhered it to the inside then fussy cut the sentiment, again from the same set, and glued it onto of the circle.  I thought the two different shapes looked nice

I also used the die edger on the back of the card but omitted the cut out piece as I wanted that to remain solid

I stamped 3 holly images onto the envelope and coloured the berries with a red pen

And this is the stamp you can win this week

You could have such fun colouring the baubles!

Leave me a comment on this post by 6pm Saturday if you would like your name added to the draw and the winner will be announced on Sunday's blog

Until tomorrow....

NOT QUITE TUESDAY TUTORIAL!

Morning ladies....

Well, 3 recordings, first one, no sound, second, no sound and for some unknown reason to me or hubby, I was breaking the world record for making a card in 22 seconds, talk about double speed, this was more like 10 times the normal speed.  This brings me to the final recording.... YouTube won't let me upload said video, its saying that the file "may be" not suitable.  I find that strange as it's the same one I always use!  Technical stuff and me do not work together, unfortunately!

So here is the first card:

When folded it measures 4" square!

You start with an 8" square card/heavy paper and score at 4" then turn the card and score at 4 " again.
This will give you 4 squares

From the centre point score diagonally down one square only, then on the opposite side cut from the outer edge to the centre

This bottom cut piece of card is then glued behind the top right piece of card

From that you need to decorate the panels as shown above

For the scored square you have to cut each piece of card or paper in half, diagonally, otherwise you won't be able to fold this piece into the card as the paper will tear or split

Ladies, if you can follow those instructions you're a 'better man than I!

I will be posting the video once 'my IT man' can pay me a visit and sort this and about 10 other queries I have about recording and uploading

Until tomorrow....

HELLO AUTUMN

Morning ladies....

I boobed with this card and couldn't rectify it (I haven't given up though)!  I've used some of the elements in the Tonic Craft Kit 12 and intended to add the gorgeous copper, texture paper behind the shaker, don't know what I was thinking and ended up applying a lighter colour card with the back of it, being white, showing in the shaker!

I used one of the shaker blisters, the gold sequins, green sequins from last month's kit, the two sentiments, both leaf stamps and all of the leaf die cuts, finally I added the shimmer to the leaves using the NUVO shimmer brushes, the gold from this month's kit and the green from last months

I stamped and heat embossed both sentiments using WOW Embossing Powder in Metallic Bronze

TOP TIP:  when making a shaker card, firstly, don't forget to rub your anti-static tool/pad around the inside of the blister and, if you have any micro beads and about a level teaspoon or just under, to the inside.  Doing this will stop most, if not all, of the contents from sticking to the plastic

I've enlarged this shot so that you can see the subtle effect using the shimmer brushes

Until tomorrow (I am going to see if I can do something to rectify the 'boob')

A SPECIAL SOMETHING

Good Sunday morning everyone....

I started with an A5 card and scored it to make an A5, horizontal card

I used 2 of the stitched oval dies to, firstly, die cut the larger oval out of the card front, then the smaller die to die cut the second piece from a separate piece of card that was also the same size as the card front.  Once die cut it was adhered to the card inside

The sentiment, I used 2 different stamps, was then stamped and heat embossed

I used some of the lilac patterned paper (I recently used this paper on the envelope technique for the silver wedding anniversary 'mini, mini album) for the flowers and leaves

When the flowers were assembled, stamens inserted and glued in place I added the leaves

I then used the NUVO aqua shimmer brush that I showed you in the video yesterday, to add the subtle gold shimmer effect on the leaves and flowers.  I must have been sitting at a different angle for the sun to catch the shimmer because it is much more subtle than it looks on the card!

To complete I added NUVO Glitter Drops in 'Holiday Cheer' around the flowers and leaves.  These also look reddish on the photo compared to how they look in the flesh!
