Hi, welcome back....

Firstly, thank you so much for your kind comments, it means so much to me.  My hubby has very kindly given me his cold, to add to my other problems LOL.  I have a nose as bright as Rudolph's!

On to business, the new theme challenge at MAWTT is 'Food And/Or Drink', the lovely Sue B chose this theme, sadly she has had to resign from the design team, due to family commitments. She is the longest serving DT member and will be greatly missed.  I wish her all the very best

I have taken the opportunity to use one of my 'twist & pop' cards from this week that still needed finishing on the inside.  I used stamps designed by Sally Mountain, these were a gift from Cardmaking & Papercraft, I believe from some time ago!

Even if you don't want to join in the challenge, and we would love to see your card if you do, please pop over to MAWTT and see the fabulous cards by my design teamies

You have until 6pm Friday to comment and the winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post

Until tomorrow....

Creative Stamping Magazine - Issue 55

Hi, thank you for stopping by....

The last few days have proved rather difficult for me because of ill health.  The steroid injection has definitely worn off (it usually lasts much longer than this) and I've struggled with both my hands and voice which are evident on the short video

I was really looking forward to demonstrating the 'washing machine' card!

I'm sorry as tomorrow's post will be postponed until Thursday but I'll have the freebie card then

Thank you for your understanding....

Hi, welcome to my 'happy place'....

This may be a little difficult to capture with it being a dark background, when you see it in the 'flesh' the lettering and white shadow affect is quite prominent

It will be our grandson's 10th birthday at the weekend and this is the beginning of his card

I've only the front made so far and still undecided if I should keep the centre of the 'o'  and I'm also undecided if I should make only a card or a little mini album for him.... decisions, decisions, decisions!  Let me know what you think about the 'o' centre ladies please

I'm so pleased I've remembered to check I had the designer paper the correct way when adhered to the white card base, all the dots are where they should be

Hi, welcome, thank you for stopping by....

I've had the base of this card made quite sometime with the colourful paper sitting alongside it so I thought I'd best assemble some kind of card

The base card is grey with a white smaller panel then grey again

I've no idea where the gorgeous paper came from nor do I know where the material with the fine strands of something came from, adhered over the colourful paper

Whatever it is I love it and wish I could get more

Once the colourful paper was covered white lace was added.  Three flowers adhered just above the lace ribbon and two decorated stick pins that I made

No sentiment or verse added as I'll keep this one until it is needed

  • grey and white cardstock ~ Papermill Direct
  • colourful paper ~ my stash
  • ?fine strands ~ my stash

Hi and welcome, thank you for stopping by....

A little example of 2 tier-layering for today's festive offering

The letters were die cut, 3 times in black cardstock and all glued together, once only with the festive paper.  It was then adhered to the black card, slightly over-lapping to give a shadow affect

The festive paper was adhered to black card and finally onto white, base card, top folding.  The finished card measures 20cmx13.5cm

The letters are slightly short of 4cm

Sentiment and tree stamped in red

You have until 6pm Saturday and the winner will be announced on Sunday's blog

Hi and welcome, thank you for stopping by....

We have a top folding notelet size card for you today.  The finished card measures 10.5 x 14.5cm, I cut a smaller black panel then a smaller white panel, the white panel is the one being decorated today

I used one of the stamps from a set designed by John Lockwood when he was with Creative Expressions, I don't have the name of this set and it doesn't appear to be on Creative Expressions Web Site.  I stamped the sentiment using a Versafine Onyx Black Ink Pad

The embossing folder was a freebie in a set by Crafter's Companion and I think I bought this several months ago.  Any embossing folder will work but if you don't have a thin oblong folder you just need to be careful positioning your card and folder before running it through your embossing machine

I positioned the e/f above the sentiment and ran it through my Platinum Machine.  To add a little extra detail I scored two horizontal lines above and below the embossed area, although it isn't necessary to do this

The flower spray is yet another freebie from quite sometime ago and stamped with the same ink pad

The insert doesn't have a verse but I did stamp it with the same flower spray stamp as well as adding this to the envelope and embossing the back of the envelope

Stamps by John Lockwood

Embossing Folder/Crafter's Companion, ink pad,
WOW embossing powder, rose spray stamp

Hi, welcome and thanks for stopping by....

Several bright colours to brighten your day.... it is supposed to be spring I believe!

This is a 7" square white base card with a smaller panel of sparkle green paper

On a separate piece of white card I used several Pixie Powders to create the gorgeous coloured background.  Once dry it was adhered to the card

A die cut in white card was adhered next and a small frame to highlight the centre profusion of colour

The butterfly, from the die set, was die cut, glue added all over the front of the butterfly then dipped into 'glitter jewels'.  Flat back pearls adhered to the spine then attached to the card

The insert was created using one stamp for the verse and 'rub-ons' for the decoration

  • green paper ~ my stash
  • Pixie Powders in Candy Pink, Emerald Green, Midnight Blue, Rich Gold & Scarlet Mist ~ Creative Expressions
  • Die set ~ CE
  • Glitter Jewels ~ CE
  • rub-ons ~ Crafter's Companion

With the exception of the green sparkle paper, the above items can be purchased at
CraftStash - where there is a 20% discount with your first order

If you would like to give this card a new home you have until 6pm Friday to leave a comment on this post

The winner will be announced on Saturday's blog

Hi and welcome, thanks for stopping by....

I don't usually make 'messy' cards but I really enjoyed creating this galaxy background (hubby thought it was fireworks going off LOL... may be I need to practise more)

I used several distress oxide inks for the background, and instead of blending the colours I spritzed water over the inks and dried them with a heat tool.  The colours will blend very nicely when you do this

If you want to add more colour/layers of colours remember to heat dry after you have spritzed with water

I used a circle punch for the moon and cut this with heavy white vellum and white cardstock, glued the two together, adhered to the card and cut the overhang away

A white paint pen was used to create the stars and some random stars were glittered

The base card is 10.5cm x 15cm with a smaller white panel that was embossed

The sentiment was die cut 4 times, glued together prior to adhering to the card, at a jaunty angle

The verse was stamped with a Memento ink pad

  • Distress Oxide Inks: black soot, broken china, faded jeans, fossilized amber, iced spruce and wilted violet ~ Ranger
  • Glitter Jewels ~ Creative Expressions
  • Sentiment ~ Cut & Make @ The Range
  • Verse stamped with Memento London Fog ~ Tsukineko

Hi and welcome, thanks for stopping by....

I'm making this mini album for a young relation of mine who has recently become engaged.  She doesn't visit my blog so showing it won't be a problem

The album is 6"x7.5" with the front, back and spine made with black, medium weight, chipboard

I've made 5 hinges for the pages and nearly finished the inside cover of the back page LOL

I've used the heart embossing/die cut folder by John Next Door

I'm hoping to be able to finish the album in a few days time and will let you see it all then

This shot shows the hinges for the pages

Hi, thanks for stopping by and welcome to my 'happy place'....

A bright and cheerful card for you today

On a piece of Yupo cardstock I applied one alcohol ink (raspberry) with a blending tool by dabbing it over the cardstock.  I reinked the blending tool with a second colour (peri) and, again, dabbed all over the cardstock.  A further application of alcohol blending solution was added to the blending tool and dabbed over the cardstock

The cardstock was then covered with vellum, this softens the background colour

A sentiment was stamped and heat embossed and a die was used to create a frame around it.  The frame was die cut twice using white then black cardstock and overlapped slightly to give a shadow affect

Another die was used for the black vertical border

Using the same alcohol inks on another piece of vellum numerous die cuts were made for the flowers.  I chose not to assemble the flowers showing the back of the vellum as I wanted a contrast with the background.  The flowers were adhered together with a pearl brad

The smallest leaf die from the set was used for the leaves and I brushed the blending tool over the edge of each leaf.... I know think I should have coloured the whole of the leaf

Hi, welcome and thanks for stopping by.....

The only Christmas related 'tool' for this card is the stamped sentiment!

I started with an 8" square, white base card and added a smaller panel of red cardstock

The next step was to emboss an even smaller piece of white card stock, once done, this one and the red cardstock were adhered to the card base

I die cut 6 of the 'Petite Peony Clusters' in green card and 12 of the flowers in red glitter card.  Two lots of three green die cuts were adhered together then glued, in a circular shape onto the card, to form the 'wreath'

The flowers were shaped, each one having three layers of the red glitter card then a black gem glued in the centre

I die cut the bow twice and glued the centre of the top one onto the bottom bow, then cut two thin strips of the same red glitter card, adhered them behind the the 'tails' of the bow to extend them

The sentiment was stamped with a red ink pad

This shows the gorgeous embossing

A sentiment stamped with the same red ink pad and a little tree stamped on the corner of the card, using the same red ink pad

Today's freebie background stamp

The winner of this stamp will be announced on Sunday's blog
