Morning ladies....

I mentioned that the exploding christening card & box I made were for my brother and sister in law's grandson, Lewis.  It was his christening yesterday and this is the card from my hubby and I.  I thought I'd keep ours plain but this can be easily adapted for any other celebration

I added a panel onto an A5 card then cut a top panel and scored it from top to bottom

The white lettering was die cut (Sizzix dies)  4 times and the blue two times, the blue gave it a lovely hint of a shadow and I added the white pearls in the shape of a cross

Lewis was a very good little boy throughout the day

Until tomorrow....

Envelope Technique For Mini Album/Card

Good Sunday morning....

This is the second commission I was asked to make for the silver wedding anniversary and I've chosen the envelope technique for, what I call, a 'mini' mini album as I have used only five 7" envelopes

The back of the album

I hope you enjoy the very short video, it's less than 3 minutes!

Good morning bloggers....

I do like the combination of black and gold and have always thought it looks decadent.  I also think the card design doesn't warrant a lot doing to it either, but, that's only my opinion and as the weeks go I may be contradicting myself!

On a piece of black card, measuring 6"x 6", I stamped and heat embossed the wreath and sentiment in gold

For the inside of the card I cut 2 smaller panels of gold card then 2 more, slightly smaller, panels in black cardstock, matted and layered them and adhered them to the card

The wording was die cut 5 times, glued together and adhered onto the card

Two Christmas stamps are the freebie prize today.  If you would like your name entered into the draw for these just leave a comment on this blog post

You have until 6pm Saturday to do so and the winner will be announced on Sunday's blog post

If you have won previously that is not be a problem as we use Random Name Picker to chose the winner

We also ship internationally at our own expense

  • metallic gold embossing powder ~ WOW
  • wreath stamp ~ free gift with an old paper craft magazine, I think!
  • gold card ~ Creative Expressions
  • sentiment die ~ Creative Expression

Morning ladies....

I have a three tier card for this week's freebie, a video will be following with the complete instructions, this is another easy make too.  Once you have the basic card cut it can be decorated in so many different ways

I've had to be so careful when photographing the card because the NUVO Crystal Drops weren't dry, hence the funny angle you're seeing

The NUVO Drops on this page look more apricot coloured but in the flesh they are pink!

On this flower I have added 'Wink Of Stella' as I did on the second flower.  Whoever wins this will see the delicate glitter 'Wink Of Stella' gives

Leave a comment on today's post if you would like your name added in the draw

You have until 6pm Friday to comment and the winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post

We ship internationally, at our expense, and it doesn't matter if you have previously won.  We use Random Name Picker to choose the winner

Until tomorrow....

TUESDAY TUTORIAL - How To Create An Exploding Christening Card & Box

Sue M was so right when she commented that" modern technology can be so infuriating"!

My sister-in-law asked me to make a christening card, their grandson, my great nephew, is being christened this Sunday and I've made, well at least 85% of it and will finish the remainder later today.  I will show a photo when it's completed

The video is showing you the basic on how to make the exploding card and box but, please note, that I have remade the lid slightly smaller than I mentioned on the video and the sides of the box now fit more snugly

So instead of the lid being a tad over 7" it's now a tad under the 7" approximately 615/16"

It really is so easy to make and assemble, why not try it yourself?

I hope you enjoy the video

Until tomorrow....

 Morning ladies....

Today's card, I think, is suitable for either female or male, without changing anything

A matt of black card onto cream card then a patterned paper on top of that

The paper has two die cut swirls/Crafter's Companion, a stamped sentiment and mounting foam added to the back for dimension

The butterfly die is by Memory Box, and was die cut twice, I used a black ProMarker to go around the edges then added adhesive and placed them onto the card

Black gems were also adhered to the spine of the butterfly and the wings were 'fluffed up'

I used black ink to stamp a partial butterfly to the inside of the card corner and a bold sentiment

Onto the card winner...

Morning ladies....

WOW, 26 weeks have quickly gone by and if the following 26 weeks go as fast we'll be into the new year!  So enough of the alarming information and on with today's card

I do love a CAS card but know there are one or two of you who prefer the opposite.  I've done my best to capture the delicate glitter on the letters, hence the amount of photos!  I used a 'Wink Of Stella' in clear and when the light hits the card it does look so pretty, you may need to take my word on that but it is true

A 5" square card with the large letters die cut 5 times and glued together

I think you can just about see the glitter on these letters.  The flower is so small and was already made just ready to be picked in my 'Christmas Flower Box'

You could have half  a day, or even a couple of hours, die cutting these letters, and apart from driving you a tad crazy just think how many cards you could batch make!

A feeble attempt to show you the glitter on the 'L'  lol

I also ran the 'Wink Of Stella' lightly over the winter tree and sentiment

This weeks' stamp if the large beaded snowflake

You have until 6pm Saturday to comment on this post to be entered into the draw and the winner will be announced on Sunday's blog post

We ship internationally at our expense too

  • white card ~ CraftUK
  • large letter dies ~ Sizzix
  • glitter pen ~ Wink Of Stella
  • poinsettia and red gem ~ Poppyfield Card Crafts
  • tree stamp and sentiment ~ Winter Trees by John Next Door

Good morning bloggers....

As the title states it's a new challenge for 'Team B' at MAWTT.  One of the new DTs, Debbie, who is hosting this challenge, has chosen the theme of 'wild animals', here is the link

if you would like to pay a visit and see the rest of the teams fabulous designs and, you're always welcome to join in the challenge

Elephants are my favourite animals and this is my contribution....

Who, I wonder has spotted any difference in the photos?

When you look at the first photo then the second a few birds are missing and here is why

On a post-it I used a large circle punch to give me a mask for the sun then placed it off centre on white cardstock

Using a peach ink by Hero Arts I began by adding lots of colour to the bottom half of the card, gradually fading the colour as I moved upwards on the card

The mask was then removed and two pieces of card were placed onto the inked card with only a very narrow piece of the card showing.  I then used 'spiced marmalade' distress oxide ink, to give me a horizon affect, once this was removed the rest of the 'spiced marmalade' was gently added to the bottom half of the sun

With the exception of one set of birds I used stamps from a papercraft magazine to stamp the images

I added a mat of grey card then black card onto the white card base and finally the finished image

Just as I was about to photo said image I noticed I'd smudged black ink on the left hand-side of the card.  I used a kraft knife and a mono eraser to remove the ink and was left with white card showing.  To rectify this I added my own hand drawn birds in flight.... card saved!

  • white, grey, black card ~ Poppyfield Card Crafts
  • peach ink ~ Hero Arts
  • distress oxide ink ~ Tim Holtz/Ranger
  • papercraft magazine ~ Creative Stamping
  • black and grey pens ~ Copic

Morning ladies....

I need to apologise as last week's wins have yet to be posted, so sorry, this will be done tomorrow!

This week's card up for the taking, I always think blue and yellow look good together.  The first picture is a tad too bright!

I used the blue NUVO Drops for the 3 gems and the yellow for the flower centres

The card inside is left blank for the winner to add their own words

Leave a comment on this post if you would like to be in the draw.  You have until 6pm Friday to comment and the winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post

We ship internationally at our expense too

Morning bloggers....

Did you have rain yesterday!  We had a bit of a downpour last night, ideal for the gardens and wild life

I used a Sizzix stencil for the main part of today's card and 'wilted violet' distress ink applied over it

The decorated card was then added to a slightly larger purple cardstock and a silver ribbon wrapped around it

The base card was embossed then I adhered the main focal point onto the base

The sentiment was stamped onto the same purple cardstock and heat embossed with  WOW metallic silver embossing powder

I arranged the tiny purple flowers before I added them to the card.  If this was to be posted the flowers can be laid flat

I also ran my blending tool down both sides of the base card as it still had enough ink on it after applying it to the stencil

Until tomorrow....

Morning ladies....

A video was made for today's post, using Windows 10.  After several cuts etc the first card was fully edited to a short video of 4 minutes but then 'we' (hubby was responsible I kid you not) lost it and it is now floating somewhere in the dark abyss of the new Windows 10 computer

So without further ado here is card number 1.... apologies as it is a little blurred

It's a 5"x7" card, top folding.  The gloss card I stamped the image and one sentiment on was from the Tim Holtz packaging for tiny white flowers, I used those recently on a baby mini album

The image was stamped and heat embossed, the identical sentiments were only stamped

I added the black twine around the card and taped the end pieces to the back of the card then adhered it to the card base

I then stamped the second 'happy birthday' sentiment on the side of the card

I added white card to kraft card on the inside and stamped a short sentiment

Our grandson has received an excellent school report, you may remember he and his mother relocated to Bournemouth two weeks before Christmas.  So we have very proud parents and grandparents as you can imagine

I've made him this card to add to a little parcel we're sending him

The base card came from one of my 'scrap' boxes, it had the 3 tags already on it but where the semi-circular dies are was a big splodge of white card

I used more scrap card to die cut the circles and glued them together.  The two sentiments were stamped, the one of the tag was stamped and heat embossed

I am going to write a note to Max on the inside of the card

  • brown gloss patterned card ~ Tim Holtz packaging
  • car stamp ~  JustRite 'Going Places Vintage Labels CL-03740
  • sentiment stamp ~ JustRite 'Royal Antique Labels One' CL-03840
  • twine ~ Creative Expressions
  • kraft card ~ my stash
  • pierced tags ~ CE
  • round dies ~ CE
  • sentiments ~ ?Woodware
