Morning blog friends....
Yesterday we had autumn and today we're back to summer, simply because I came across this unfinished card in one of my 'to finish' boxes. and the reason it wasn't finished is down to this embossing folder AKA 'that folder'....
It was so popular on Facebook card sites and CraftStash made it even more popular and I think, although I'm not 100% sure, CraftStash had different designs made, but all with the common denominator being the wave across it
My folder is not the original and when it arrived I embossed it onto white card then left it for several months...as you do! LOL
So one day I was having a session using Pixie Powders onto white watercolour card and thought I'd try the embossing folder again. I used the Pixie Powders onto a half sheet of water colour card so that I could capture the wave and the flowers when I embossed it
I don't think you would guess the top half is all cascading hearts had you not seen the e/f, no matter which way it was photographed they would not show clearly but, in the flesh, they do look so pretty
Once embossed I stamped the sentiment then sliced the card into two parts. I used watercolour pencils to colour the flowers and leaves then adhered both parts onto teal coloured cardstock with a slightly larger panel of white card and again a larger panel of teal. This was then adhered to an 8" white card base..... and still I didn't like it so back in the box it went. If by now you're still reading this I commend you as typing it nearly has me asleep LOL
Yesterday the card made a second appearance and after a few minutes looking at it and wondering what was missing, bingo I had it..... I used my fine nib Copic pen in black ink and added dots around the flowers!
So ladies, don't throw your card away if you're not happy with it, leave it to one side for a while then go back to it. I only hope it doesn't take you several months like this card has done for me!

Thanks, June - I have a lot of "what can I do with this" pieces of card. I will have another look at them !!!
ReplyDeleteLovely card June, I do like this folder but seldom use it as with everything else!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNice card, unusual. I especially like the little dots around the flowers, such a simple thing but really sets the card off
ReplyDeleteHi I have this folder, in fact 2 versions of it and both were freebies with mags. Pixie Powders and water colour products are yet again items I would like to learn about. I did once buy a set of Pixie Powders but, have never used them, lack of knowledge and inspiration is probably the reason why. However, they do look lovely on this card. Its amazing how youre able to change things up a bit to make a fabulous end product and yes, the little dots do seem to make the flowers stand out. xxx
ReplyDeleteLike you, I have a box of unfinished bits!! Perhaps I need to revisit!! Thank for the prompt!!
