BLOG UPDATE

Good morning bloggers, crafty friends and visitors....

Tomorrow I will announce the winner of the freebie card but it will be my last post for this year until I return on Wednesday 2 January 2019, with the weekly Wednesday give-away card

I have decided that I will only show a Christmas card, possibly once monthly, if that, as I'm going to make a batch of the same card for 2019, but, I will continue with the Friday Freebie, as long as I have goodies to give away

I want to thank you all for your loyal, continued support, it is so appreciated and wish everyone a very happy Christmas with an even better 2019

Enjoy the festive period and look forward to seeing you back here on 2 January

EXPANDING MOUSSE, CHRISTMAS CUPCAKES & A NEW CHALLENGE AT MAWTT!

Good morning everyone....

Today is the start of a new challenge at MAWTT, our leader, the lovely Wendy, has set the challenge and this time it is for both teams, Teams A and B

Now whilst I'd checked what the challenge was (actually several times!) it wasn't until I came to load my contribution onto the MAWTT blog that, to my horror, I'd been, wrongly, reading the challenge!  What made it worse was that I've been so busy all week, especially yesterday, and wasn't able to add my contribution until about 20 minutes before my lift arrived.  Bear with me as I'm nearly getting to the point LOL.  I was reading the challenge as 'Anything But Christmas' and, as I'd been trying the 'expanding mousse' by Tonic, was quite happy to upload said mousse card, only to see, as plain as the nose on my face, that the challenge is 'Anything But A Card'!!  So this is why there is a 'photo of Christmas cupcakes that my friend had asked me to make and photos of a card

You can see what my teamies have made here:

#87 - Anything But A Card

Some of the ladies are also giving a prize too and Wendy is asking if anyone would like to join her design team.  Full details on the MAWTT blog

So, first things first, the cupcakes, they are chocolate cupcakes with a topping of chocolate ganache then decorated with fondant

I've had some Tonic expanding mousse for a while but only tried it yesterday.  I used a stencil by Clarity and generously added the mousse, the colour is 'hammered copper', to the leaves.  When you add heat the mousse bubbles up and gives a lovely texture

I then added a little product to my glass mat and added water to the mousse to paint the leaves

I added small black dots around each outline and finished the card with the two sentiments by Creative Expressions

You can see how textured it is on the photo above and below

This is what it looks like on black card and I used a white gel pen to add the faux stitching

Until tomorrow....

TECHNIQUE TUESDAY - TRIANGULAR STAR SHAPED GIFT BOX

Good morning everyone....

Boy has this taken a lot of time to upload!  Uploaded to YouTube yesterday at around 5pm, it was still only at 1% at 6am this morning!

This really is a pretty gift box and, as I mentioned in the video, can be used for gifts all year round, as it depends on how you decorate it.  I've added more NUVO drops on the second side and will complete the third by this afternoon

Enjoy the video and if you make the box please email me a photo of it

The bottom certainly looks neater with it now being covered

Until tomorrow....

I AM BACK WITH A CARD COMMISSION

Good morning everyone....

It seems ages since I was here showing a card!  Once again, thank you all for your kind comments and get well wishes.  They are very touching and do mean a lot to me

Today's card is a commission for a gorgeous little boy who recently celebrated his 8th birthday

It's an A5 card and I cut a slightly smaller top panel of the same card, rounded the corners then embossed it

Mounting foam was added to the back then adhered to the card base

The two sentiments were typed and die cut

The star outline was die cut and embossed and I glittered two of the stars before replacing them back into the outline

Two triangular shapes were cut for pockets and adhered to the inside of the card

The remaining stars were glued into place and the 'You're One In A Million' die cut and embossed

The sentiment was stamped and embossed

I backed a photo, of the birthday boy,  onto a slightly larger panel of yellow card then white and placed it into the left side pocket of his card

MATERIALS USED:
  • Spellbinders Cascading Stars
  • Creative Expressions 'You're One In A Million' CED22005

Health Update:

When I visited the rheumatology nurse specialist last week she had x-rays taken of my hands and also gave me a steroid shot.  The steroid is helping but it's only a temporary 'help'.  The earliest appointment to see a rheumatology consultant is February 2019, a ridiculous time to wait, but the hospital (University Hospital of North Durham) doesn't have any permanent consultant rheumatologists, only locums!  The hospital, in my opinion, is rapidly going down hill, it was never like this when I worked there!  The one perk, that I really appreciated and valued was, if I needed to see either my consultant or nurse specialist I was seen the same day - a huge privilege for sure

On Saturday I had both sedation and throat spray for the endoscopy.  The nurse said it wouldn't make me sleep....  I remember the doctor telling me he was going to insert the camera and that was that, I slept LOL.  Woke up in a different room  with a lovely cup of tea being made for me.  Now awaiting results

Until tomorrow....
