FOLLOW YOUR HEART

At last, hello and good morning to you all!

Once again a big heartfelt thank you for all the truly touching messages and cards, they mean so much to us

When I ventured into my craft room the top part of today's card was on my desk winking at me and all I had to do was back it onto a slightly larger white panel then onto the white card base
I used the sentiment, from Tonic's Craft Kit 19, and stamped it onto vellum using a Distress Oxide in worn lipstick.  The stamp and die set is all from the kit 19 and you'll see future cards using the dies.  I used the corresponding die to die cut it then I die cut it 4 times more on white card.  The white layers were adhered together then the vellum sentiment adhered to the base

I had lots of die cut hearts in my 'hearts storage box' and I used 3 of them, that were die cut from white card, and coloured them with a ProMarker in 'berry red'.  When you use white card don't forget to add the colour around the edge so you don't see any white card

I used a NUVO Glitter Marker in 'strawberry bonbon' to add a little sparkle to the heart

I can't remember the colours I used to create the pretty background nor can I remember the stamp either and I apologise for that

In the Tonic Craft Kit 19 there is a NUVO Smooth Precision Glue Pen, I must say that I've loved using this on the small areas of the sentiment, it definitely is a precision pen!

Health Update:

In the last 2 weeks Steve must have taken me to hospital 8 to 10 times, we've been to Urgent Care and A&E, all to do with my infected neck wound.  It has been horrendous and so painful!  During this time I was battling my 3rd episode of shingles, taking the antiviral tablets for those then numerous antibiotics to no avail.  The antibiotics were changed 3 times as nothing would work then the GP I saw last Monday gave me a 'script for new ones and they have made a huge difference, I'm pleased to report

It was such a pity this happened as the first 2 weeks the wound healed nicely and you could just about see with the incision had been made then the following morning my neck was swollen, very painful and you could see the inflammation spreading around the area.  I have to be so very careful regarding inflammations due to my immune system being extremely compromised due to the drugs I take for the rheumatoid disease, that said I've not been able to take any since Christmas because of the swelling in my neck and had to wait, eventually, for the biopsy result.  I received that a few days ago and I have, again, TB in my lymph nodes (the first time this happened I was 12 and it was totally different to this episode) but there isn't any trace of lymphoma, that was wonderful to hear.  I'm not infectious with the TB and start treatment today, it could last up to 6 months

We also had to visit the Eye Infirmary as my right eye was bloodshot for 3 days and also hurt.  The rheumatoid is in my eye and I'm using 3 different eye drops for this.  We're back to the eye infirmary tomorrow for a check up

My neck wound is improving each day too, at the height of it all my son said it looked like a pink slug!  I have to say Steve and I agreed with him too lol

So after 3 episodes of shingles since the 2 January I'm happy to report there is only one shingle spot remaining but boy I still get the pain when I move certain ways.  TB rearing its ugly head again, I did not know it could develop again and, if all goes well with the bucket load of meds I am taking for the TB I should be able to restart the rheumatoid medicines again.... #happy bunny

To top all the above I'm so happy to let you know that we have our grandson back living in the north east!  His mum and he came back last week and I am so very, very happy for my son, he lives for his son and the last year has been so sad seeing Lee being unhappy and missing 'his boy'

Until tomorrow....

Hello

It's Steve here again, June has been so poorly these last few days, she has an awful infection in her neck wound and, I can't believe I'm saying this again but shingles have returned!  We've had 5 trips to hospital/doctors this week and it has really taken it our of her.  She has told me that she will be back on Monday, actually she said she is determined to be back on Monday and will show the card winner then.  June also asked me to tell you she is sorry this has happened again as she does not like letting anyone down.

WEEKLY WEDNESDAY CARD GIVE-AWAY

Good morning everyone....
I CAS card for this week's give-away

On a piece of white card I used all of the distress oxides, shown in the picture below, to give me a colourful palette.  I then spritzed water over it and blotted it dry

I added it to a slightly larger piece of black card and adhered it to the 5"x7" white card base

I already had a bunch of butterflies die cut so I used 3 different sizes and coloured them using the distress ink pads

I then stamped the sentiment (unknown stamp set) using a StazOn Jet Black ink pad, adhered the butterflies to the card and finally added a drop of NUVO's Crystal Drops in 'ebony black'
to the spine of each butterfly then dragged the drops to form a tail

If you would like to give this card a new home please leave me a comment and your name will be added to Random.Name Picker and the winner announced on Saturday's blog

You have until 6pm Friday to do so

Until tomorrow....June x

Technique Tuesday - Pixie Powders & Masking Fluid

Hello again!  Twenty five minutes later than scheduled I'm sorry to say, YouTube must be very busy

This is another technique to use as a background on your cards.  It's your choice whether you go for vivid colours or the more subtle shades.  I would have preferred to use a brick mask but, unfortunately, I don't have one!

I hope you enjoy the video

Until tomorrow....

TICKLED PINK

Good morning everyone....

I ordered this die from AliExpress, for those of you who haven't heard of this company they are based in China.  They make lots of similar dies, not replicas, as there is always something a little different in the design

I've had, possibly, 4-5 items from them and they have worked a treat, but, with this one I'm not too happy with it as it took about 6 passes to die cut and then I embossed it

This is not a complaint about it as I will use it on a lighter card stock and see if it's any better, but, for £1.28 I can't grumble

You have to remember that it takes several weeks for your order to arrive, and that said, one of my orders dropped through the letter box 4 days after placing it on-line!

I've increased the size of the photo to show you that even after embossing it you can't see the details of the swirl lower down on the card.  May be I should have used a darker cardstock!

It's a 5"x51/2" card base and I placed the die on the edge of the card to give me the swirl.  I used some pretty pink paper to the card inside then stamped the sentiment on the front using 2 stamps by STAMPIN'UP! from their Fabulous Flamingo' stamp set and worn lipstick/Distress Oxide

To complete I used NUVO Crystal Drops/bubblegum blush  around the card front

CARD WINNER - AND HEALTH UPDATE

Good morning everyone....

Yesterday my ENT consultant telephoned me with a part result of the biopsy taken nearly 3 weeks ago.  He said there was TB in the node and they sent the remainder of the node to the histology department at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Newcastle, as further tests needed to be done because of the query of lymphoma.  He did say he didn't think there was lymphoma there but we'll just have to wait for the final results

This doesn't worry me but if it were my hubby, son or grandson I would struggle to cope.  It's like history repeating itself as, when I was 12 I had a TB gland in my neck, same side but higher up.  I was absent from school for at least 3 months as I had to have complete bed rest, luckily no operation but horrible daily medicine and daily injections of streptomycin in my bum.  I've not heard of anyone else who has had 2 lots of TB and shingles twice in succession.... I'm thinking of leaving my body to medical research!

Now onto something nice, the first card winner for 2019....

WELL DONE YOU & FREEBIE FRIDAY

Good morning everyone....

Today's card shows what you can achieve using one main stamp and one Promarker

The card is certainly not flashy/over the top/ etc  but sometimes you may need a quick 'congratulatory' card to send to someone and this design is ideal for the male population

I've mentioned previously how I intend to use each and everyone of my die and stamp collection, embossing folders.... well, to cut a long story short, all the gear in my craft room!  So, this Clarity stamp just happened to appear on my work table and I had an idea to use it for today's card but also to keep the card minimalish....

It's a 6" square card, top folding, and the stamp is a Clarity stamp nos 68 and named 'floral swirl'.  This is the first time I've used it and I actually bought it in 2012!... shocking I know

I used Adirondack 'denim' to stamp around the card then a Promarker in 'berry red' to add the dots.  There is a little white space on the leaves so I added the red to those too

The sentiment is one by Creative Expressions and you'll see on the last picture below the ones I've used frequently.  I used a Versafine ink pad in 'satin red' to stamp the sentiment then ran the denim ink pad on the edges

Foam pads were added to the back just to give it a little height

As this is my first week of blogging this year I decided not to do a 'Festive Friday', although the odd one may make an appearance, the reason being that I'm going to make a batch of the same card design except for the ones going to our nearest and dearest.  I will carry on with the give-away

So for this week's freebie I have a distress ink pad in 'weathered wood'.  The same condition still applies, if you'd like your name added to the draw then please leave me a comment on today's post by 6pm Saturday and I will announce the winner on Sunday's blog
Until later....

WEDNESDAY WEEKLY CARD GIVE-AWAY

Good morning everyone....

A little shabby chic for today's give-away, and I must now mention that I'm so sorry I haven't been able to post the freebies to Littlelamb and Sue M and will do so this week!
This is a DL card with a smaller white panel then the decorative  pink paper.  I added white lace to the centre and a selection of flowers by 49 and Market, called botanical Blends in hazelnut

The white pearls are from Wild Orchid Crafts

The hearts tag is from the craft kit 19 by Tonic

As usual the inside of the card is left blank for the recipient to add their own verse/sentiment

Leave me a message on today's post by 6pm Friday and the winner will be announced on Saturday's blog

FOR SOMEONE SPECIAL

Good morning everyone!  It's good to be back, but please bear in mind there may be the odd day when I'm unable to post. I'm hoping today is the day I get the final result regarding my neck problem
I thought I would start the week with a 'fresh' look and chose green as it always appeals to me as clean and fresh

I used a white 6" square scalloped card base and one of the largest dies in the Tonic Craft Kit 18 to create the pretty edge on the card front

I then used 2 pieces of decorative papers from the June 2016 edition of Making Cards, I added a little colour on the edges using a NUVO Hybrid ink pad in 'Lime Burst', then adhered them to card, I cut a narrow piece of green card and embossed it using Creative Expressions 'Falling Snow' embossing folder.  I used the same green card for the inside

I made 3 flowers using CE's 'Perfect Peony Complete Petals'.  I die cut these from white card and added colour using Ranger's Distress Oxide in 'Twisted Citron'.  I didn't want the whole of the flower to be one dense colour so in places I left the petals partially white

I added NUVO Dream Drops in 'Supernova' to the centre of the flowers and onto either end of the sentiment.  The sentiment stamp was also part of the Tonic Craft Kit 18 too
On this photo you can see the green card on the inside

I also made a matching envelope

Until later....

HELLO!

Good morning ladies, June here today!

Thank you so much for your thoughts and get well wishes as well as the gorgeous cards you sent me too, it does mean a lot to me and Steve

I'm still getting shingle pain but not quite so severe as a few weeks ago.  It's so typical of me to have shingles, complete the course of antiviral tablets, shingles start to fade then they come back again, with vengeance, down my other side and across my neck!

Today I need to let you know about another issue.  I found a lump in my neck a few weeks ago, numerous visits to GP, referral to an ENT consultant who booked me in for an ultrasound and needle biopsy.  I was very surprised to learn that I have several lumps and not just the one I found!  We were back for the results yesterday only to be told the biopsy was inconclusive so I am having another one within in the next two weeks (consultant is hoping it will be done this coming Wednesday or Thursday) under a general anaesthetic

So my dear blog friends if you can still bide with me I'm hoping to be back with my daily cards etc at the beginning of March

In the meantime....

Happy crafting

Update On June

Steve back again to let you know June now has shingles again on the opposite side of her back.  Not only that but I'm taking her to hospital tomorrow to have this 'query' cancerous lump checked out that is in her neck.  She really is going through it at the moment

Hello, it's Steve, June's hubby.  Just to let you know that June is quite ill with shingles, so weak she needs my help to visit the bathroom.  I can't give you a date when she'll be back but sure when she does start to feel able enough she will post on her blog

TO MY FABULOUS FRIEND

Good morning everyone....

I must ask if you would please bear with me whilst I battle shingles, the beast is taking so much out of me that, for an example, last week's give-away card took all day to make as I had to stop many times and rest.  So if you would note that I'm looking into my project boxes and anything that is nearly finished I'm finishing and blogging it!  This is one of them, as yesterday's was and probably would never have seen light of day on here but needs must

This little card was embossed with the same e/f as I used on yesterday's card.  The flowers were already made and I added tiny orange pearls to the middles.  The ivory scroll was also adhered to the card so all I had to do was stamp a sentiment.  I used a Distress Oxide in spice marmalade for the sentiment and the Big Ideas Stamp Set by CE

BIRTHDAY WISHES, CARD WINNER & A GOOD TIP!

Good afternoon one and all....

For 2019 I am going to make a conscious effort to use my papers, revisit my dies and stamps and get the most out of them.  Otherwise I'll be found drowning in crafty stock!  I am going to be very good in what I may order this year, I'm saying that because I love 'Heartfelt Creations' products and they have some products that I've been looking at for a year at least!

The above statement brings me to today's card....

The top panel on this card was in one of my project files and I 'found' it whilst looking for something else

A Couture Creations embossing folder was used, named Ambrosia, along with white card

Once embossed I gently coloured it using a Distress Oxide Ink Pad in broken china

Working backwards the panel was adhered to royal blue card, then white and finally the base card also using the royal blue cardstock

I added 3 lengths of string and held it in place on the inside of the card

The birthday wishes was die cut 6 times and glued together

Here's the tip:  if you want a gorgeous sheen on your sentiment and don't have 'glossy accents' or similar, remembering that you have to wait until the glossy accents dries completely, dab a clear stamp pad, such as VersaMark, onto the sentiment then sprinkle clear embossing powder over it, remove excess and heat set

You can see on the above photo how it shines

For the inside of the card I have only added plain paper until I know where the card is going

LATE POST

Morning ladies.....

Just to say today's post and card winner is scheduled for 12pm today

Friday, 4 January 2019

A SPECIAL SOMETHING & FREEBIE FRIDAY - POST NOW UPDATED

Good morning everyone....

Here is today's card and freebie gift

This is slightly larger than an 8" square card and I started with the die cut for the sentiment, die cut the detailed top from white card then used the outer die for the backing. The paper is one from Tonic's craft kit and the true colour is best seen on the photos below, not the top one as that looks more peach than the very pale lemonish colour it should be!

An old stamp set from Creative Expressions was used for the sentiment and this was heat embossed using WOW Pearlescent Gold embossing powder.  It's a perfect match with the Tonic paper.  I also added mounting foam to this

For the next step I made 2 die cuts in another piece of white card and used the remainder of the Tonic paper to back them.  Mounting foam was then added to this

Now working towards the base card another piece of white card was cut then I had to use a very pale lemon card (from my stash) slightly larger than the lemon card, and adhered them together.  Mounting foam was also added to the back of this

I made my own base card from white card and assembled all the layers together

To complete nuvo Crystal Drops Gloss in Buttermilk was added

Due to the embossing powder being in a plastic tub and the cost of postage I will decant the powder into a plastic bag for the winner.  I hope this is agreeable?

PRODUCTS USED:
  • white and lemon cardstock - my stash
  • Tonic 'lemonish' paper - Tonic Craft Kit
  • Frames & Tags - Lauren Die Set CED4314/Creative Expressions
  • nuvo Crystal Drops Gloss - Buttermilk/Tonic
Until later....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Good morning everyone....

I started with a 6" square card base and using a Versa Colour Ink Pad in 152 Ash Rose, I stamped the first 4 flowers in a 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock position.  I used the 'peg pin stamps' and, unfortunately, I've had these for so many years and no longer remember the make.  I do know Crafter's Companion have similar

I used 2 flower stamps to fill in the blank areas and when completed I added a little red 'pan pastel' (a chalk ink)  onto a cotton wool ball, removed the excess then very gently dusted around the flowers.  Doing this actually brings out the colour of the flowers!
I filled in the remaining spaces using another 2 leaf stamps and a  Versa Colour Ink Pad in Green 21

The sentiment is actually from an A4 sheet of freebie Christmas stamps and I used a Memento ink pad in  'Sweet Plum' for both the sentiment and the verse

For the verse I used more of the stamps that I mentioned in yesterday's post, I think you'll see these being used quite often!

I used the same procedure for this second card but added more flowers and leaves resulting in a fuller look of both

I also stamped the card exactly as the first one

As I've shared my medical ailments with  you all of late, and appreciate your good wishes and kind words, I thought it only right I update you

I've been ill over this festive period, found a lump in my neck just over a week ago, that is now being addressed but on Sunday I was taken to Urgent Care to be told by the staff nurse that the blister on my back was really a scratch, but as it was inflamed around it she gave me more antibiotics.  Today it was worse and I had to see the duty doctor, I now have shingles and on a course of antiviral meds

This 'old gal' struggles on!

Until tomorrow ladies....

SENDING HAPPINESS YOUR WAY

Good morning everyone and a very happy new year to you and yours.  I hope you had a lovely Christmas and I would like to thank you for the beautiful Christmas cards you sent me, so very kind to remember me

For today's give-away card the main focal point is using the 3D Embossing folder, designed by Sue Wilson and named 'Natalie's Poinsettias'.  The e/f does all the work, the detail is stunning.  I added little black dots to some of the raised areas as well as adding 8mm black gems to the centre of all 4 flowers.  I used a NUVO Glitter Marker in Strawberry Bonbon to colour the petals

The sentiment is from  the Clear Stamp Set, again by Creative Expressions, named Big Ideas/CEC883.  I love this stamp set, it has 5 large words and 32 small words that you can mix and match, well worth a purchase

The next time I use this folder I will use white card and a littler letter pressing technique

Leave me a comment on today's post if you would like your name to be entered into the draw, you have until 6pm Friday to do so

Random.Name Picker or Random.Number Picker will choose the winner and it will be announced on Saturday's blog

Until tomorrow and another year of craftiness....
