WEEKLY WEDNESDAY CARD GIVE-AWAY

Good morning blog friends....

I hope you managed to watch the awaited video yesterday on how to make the gatefold shutter card.  Was I glad when it uploaded to YouTube.... eventually!

For this week's freebie card I've used a beautiful paper from the first craft kit by Crafter's Companion.  I think when you have papers like these you don't need to do much else to the card

I added the sentiment, from the kit, and 4 pink pearls, also from the kit.  The paper was adhered to black card then onto the 7" ivory base card

The pink papers are from a paper pad I've had a while.  They do have a mottled/splodge look, sort of behind the pattern, if you know what I mean.  Whoever wins the card will see what I'm mean

As always if you would like to give this card a new home please comment on this post by 6pm Friday.  We use Random.Name Picker to choose a winner therefore it doesn't matter if you have won previously

We also ship internationally at our own expense

Until tomorrow....

TECHNIQUE TUESDAY - GATEFOLD SHUTTER CARD

Good morning everyone....

After videoing this technique 4 times, I had to give up!  I must say that those two words are not usually in my vocabulary!

My first video was too long then the following 3 were even longer each time I recorded them, now how does that happen?  So very frustrating.  To post a 10-15 video can take up to 8 hours from start to finish and this one nearly finished me

So, here are the photos and I will get the video sorted and, hopefully, post later today
THE VIDEO IS NOW SHOWN BELOW.... YAY!!

Until later (I hope)....

ALL THINGS GROW WITH LOVE

Good morning bloggers

I hope you all have had a good weekend?  The weather changed very quickly yesterday and I had to resort to switching on heating!... it's nearly June!  My aunt, in Canada, had to have her air con on, there's no happy medium

For today's card I started with a 7" sq white card base and added a smaller panel of yellow card, then a smaller panel of black card

You may remember this stamp as I used it on 13 May blog post.  It's from the 'Iloveart' on-line store.  I have to mention here that this particular store is much better in posting your goods to you, compared to others in that area

I stamped the image onto white card using a black pigment ink then embossing it with a clear embossing powder

If you click on the image, left, and increase the size, you may see how the black really shines

I stamped the sentiment using the same ink pad but did not emboss it

The centre of the flowers were coloured using a ProMARKER pen and really match the yellow card

The verse, from the same stamp set as the sentiment, was also stamped with the black ink pad

I used a corner punch on the bottom of the insert and at the top of the other sheet of paper

To complete I partially stamped the image onto the corner of the envelope and coloured the centre of the flower

INGREDIENTS:
  • white, black & yellow cardstock
  • floral stamp - Inloveart/on-line store STZH043
  • onyx black ink pad/Versafine
  • tulip yellow ProMARKER
Until tomorrow....

AMELIA'S MINI ALBUM

Good morning everyone....

I have a very short video for you today showing a mini album made for my great niece.  It's not as elaborate as others I've made but I am still very pleased with it.  I hope you all have a good weekend, weather permitting I'm hoping hubby can do a little more garden prepping!

The picture isn't a very good one as I forgot to take a photo of the album!  It was after it had been delivered I realised what I'd done, or not done.... shingle brain!

THROW BACK!

Good morning blog friends and visitors....

You may remember this card from, I think, a while ago (not 100% certain).  I hadn't completed the card inside and now I have.  It was one of my dearest friend's birthday this week and that gave me the opportunity to finish the card and post it to her

I used the same swirl die (shown as two swirls on this card)  as I did on last week's wedding card

The sentiment was heat embossed and the die cut is also by Creative Expressions

The pale lemon card came from one of Tonic's Craft Kits

I added two pieces of white card to the inside but prior to adhering it I used a corner punch on all the corners then distressed the edges with an oxide ink

The sentiment on the left is from an on-line store, the stamp surrounding it is available from another store

I typed the verse on the right hand side and die cut both images as well as distressing the edges before securing in the card

Until tomorrow....

WEEKLY WEDNESDAY CARD GIVE-AWAY ~ TWISTED EASEL

Good morning blog friends and visitors....

When our grandson was a toddler we would ask him what his favourite colour was, he always said orange, it always made me smile especially as he was only  2-3 years old.  So when I see an abundance of orange I have happy memories and that leads me onto this week's card give-away.  An orange and black twisted easel card....

I used a 6"sq white card base and scored the front of the card, diagonally, corner to corner to create the twist

On the inside of the card and cut smaller panels of orange, black and orange.  These were adhered together and glued onto the card

I used a wiggly scallop oval die (if anyone has the correct name I would appreciate knowing it) to die cut and emboss the black card to sit on the inside of the card

On a piece of orange card I stamped the sentiment and used the next smaller die from the above set to die cut and emboss it.  As this was the main 'stopper' for the easel the orange card had black mounting foam glued to the back prior to placing onto the base

To cover the easel part I used a smaller panel of black card then orange.  I also embossed the orange card.  These were then adhered to the card

On white watercolour card I stamped the flower using a distress oxide ink.  I then used two watercolour pencils to colour the whole image.  For the centre of the flower I used a ProMarker pen to create the seeds

Another unknown Spellbinders's die was used for the black background card, die cut and embossed then once I had fussy cut the image it was adhered it to the black card

As there was more of a gap on the right side of the flower I added a few gems to that side only.  I don't have an orange in
the NUVO Crystal Drops, nor do I have orange gems so I coloured white, flat back pearls using a ProMarker

There is plenty of room to write your message, either behind the easel part of underneath it when you lift it up

THINKING OF YOU

Good morning each and everyone....

I hope you had a good weekend

I was sent a stamp set and a few dies from the website I Love Art, their prices are unbelievable, you just have to bide your time for the postman to deliver your goodies.  That said I think the post from China is possible improving!

I decided I would use the stamp for today's card.  It stamps really well and is a good size too

I started with a 5"x7" white card base and cut a smaller panel of white card.  I scored lines on this piece every half inch and used a corner punch on all four corners

Using a blending tool I distressed the edges using 'picked raspberry' D/O then adhered it to the card

Using white watercolour card a second panel was cut to approx 4"x5" and I stamped the image with 'antique linen' D/O as well as giving it a quick blast of heat

I used a combination of distress oxide to colour the flowers, leaves and the circles then re-stamped the smaller two flowers and spare watercolour card and coloured those too.  These were then fussy cut, shaped and adhered to the centre of the two smaller flowers

I used the same punch on all four corners and distressed the edges.  Mounting foam was added to the back prior to adhering to the card front

I added the sentiment (it's been in my stash for a while) and the insert but used a Martha Stewart punch along to two edges first

I completed the card by brushing a little gold sparkle to the flower petals and adding black gems to the centre of the flowers and a small black dot to the centre of the circles

TIP:  when you add an extra layer of petals always ensure you have coloured the back of the flower as it looks much nicer this way as opposed to plain white card

INGREDIENTS:
  • watercolour card - Crafter's Companion
  • white cardstock - Poppyfield Card Crafts
  • flower stamp - I Love Art STZH043
  • Distress Oxides - antique linen, cracked pistachio, peeled paint, picked raspberry, seedless preserves
  • punch - Martha Stewart
  • black gems - Creative Expressions
  • sentiment - own stash

CARD COMMISSION

Good morning everyone....

The sun came out yesterday and was such a welcome change, I hope it stays for a while!

Today's card is a christening card I was asked to make

I decided to make a gate-fold card using 2 x 6" square cards and removing a slither of card from one side only of each card.  Doing this will ensure your card closes perfectly

A Crafter's Companion die was used to give the beautiful filigree/lace affect on the side panels.  I added a pale pink card to the back of each panel then a strip of white flat back pearls to the front

I cut another piece of pink card to fit the card inside and before adhering it in place I die cut a heart from another Tonic Craft Kit

I typed the wording and placed it inside the heart

Another line of white, flat backed pearls were adhered below the wording and as I didn't have a cross I improvised and used a crystal bling that I thought
would be suitable

I also made a much plainer card as well so that my client could choose, she took both!

I used a subtle mottled pink for this card and die cut and embossed it using the third largest circular die set from Creative Expressions

The sentiment was typed onto white card then I covered it with a piece of double sided adhesive, removed the backing and sprinkled Glitter Jewels/CE over it.  Mounting foam was added to the back then placed onto the card

The hearts were also die cut
and mounting foam added to them prior to placing onto the card

I accidentally 'found' the gold hearts in a drawer so I added those on top of the white ones

Lola-Grace was also die cut and adhered in place, I added a tiny pale pink gem to the middle of her name

The card front was completed with a tiny rose bud and this time I kept the wire on it but gave it a little twirl before adhering in place

You will know that if you make a circular card you need to cut a little card away from the back otherwise the card won't stand.  You can see where I've done this on the above picture

I used the circular dies again to add to the card inside and added another typed sentiment onto one

ON YOUR WEDDING DAY

Good morning everyone....

This was the card I made for the wedding we attended last weekend

I started with an A4 white card base and scored it to make A5, top folding

I then cut a smaller piece of white card as my top panel and used one of the Gemini Dies/Creative Expressions, to die cut diagonally on the panel.  At the same time I added a Spellbinders Edge'ability die to the bottom of the panel and ran these through my die cutting machine as well as embossing both
I cut a piece of pale pink card, large enough to sit behind the main die cut, added a piece of double sided adhesive sheet to it, removed the backing and sprinkled Glitter Jewels/CE over the pink card

I heat embossed the sentiment with a WOW Embossing Powder in platinum

The bottom die removes the hearts when you die cut so I paper pieced them back into the original space

This was then adhered to the base card using mounting foam
The roses and leaves were added to the top corner only.  I did add a little glitter to them but it hasn't shown in this shot

I used a beautiful silver grey paper, from one of Tonic's Craft Kits, to the inside of the card.  It has a beautiful pattern of roses on it

A Martha Stewart Punch was used at the top and bottom of the paper and I used a Spellbinders's Fancy Heart Die for the centre of the page

I used thick vellum and a corner die by Heartfelt Creations to create a corner pocket and also made a cute mini envelope, using the same thick vellum, and adhered the pocket as shown above

The bride and groom requested cash as a gift and this little envelope was ideal.  I tied a narrow pale pink bow around it

This week's freebie is an Oriental Lily Die Set

CARD GIVE-AWAY, BUTTERFLY, POPPIES & SPLATTERS!

Good morning everyone....

Apologies I didn't make it here on Monday or Tuesday, all down to a sore throat, swollen glands and loss of voice (it never ends!).  We did make it to the wedding at the weekend, apart from it being a tad chilly (chilly for me) it was a lovely day

My GP rang me last night asking how I was and was I coping with the medication.  He said that TB medication makes you feel worse than having TB, and I have to agree with him!  I hope in another four and a half months the course of medication will cease and I am able to take the rheumatoid meds again, fingers crossed

Onto the give-away card (another from my card stash) as you know poppies are my favourite flower and I've used this poppy stamp often.  You also know how I love to use splatters as well on certain cards and you can't go wrong with the odd butterfly.  The card is flat, making it ideal for posting

CARD WINNER & TWO CARDS USING THE TWO FOLD METHOD

Hello everyone....

Sorry for my absence, it's down to sheer exhaustion, coping with rheumatoid and TB tiredness.  The mind is willing but the body is not!

Here is the winner of Wednesday card:

Random Name Picker

Enter all names in the field below, each on a separate line:

Jackie T

CONGRATULATIONS!

Your card will be winging its way to you

Last week's winner has not claimed her card so I will offer that one again at a later date

I love the folds on today's card, I first showed you this three weeks ago, plus a video, you can view it here:  https://youtu.be/bCsGlCz3d9I

I used another double sided 12" sq paper, and cut it to make a 10"sq paper, so the finished card is a 5"sq.  I 'found' this paper when tidying my stash.  I used the Daisy Patch die set by Heartfelt Creations (HCD 703) to make one medium size and one small flower.  I die cut these from white card and added 'fossilized amber' distress ink to part of the petals and more colour to the centre

I still have stamens, from my cake/flower decorating days, and added the yellow mimosa stamens to both flowers.  Adding stamens really enhances your flowers and I should do this more regularly!

I already had leaves die cut out of green card but I wanted them a deeper green so added 'peeled paint' distress ink to them, cut them apart and glued into place

I also die cut 2 elements from Heartfelt Creations's Arianna Lace Die Set HCD 747, from white card then coloured them with the same 'fossilized amber' ink.  I sat the larger flower on top of these and you can just see the tips popping out

Whilst the gems along the top fold look yellow and green is because I used Glitter Drops in 'yellow bird' by Tonic, and they give a translucent affect, so whatever colour your base card is will, effectively, change the colour of the drops

I made the cutest vellum envelope, you can see the top of it on the second fold, to hold a gift card and tied a ribbon around the envelope

You don't always have to use a gift card as there are many other little gifts you could enclose in your envelope

The sentiment and verse are from Creative Expresstions and I embossed both using WOW Clear Embossing Powder

For the verse, stamped onto white card, I distressed the edges using 'faded jeans' distress ink

I made this card, same method, for a man, hence the muted colours

For this one I reversed the back of the card to the front, so that it would open as a 'proper' card.  I then wondered what it would look like if I folded the front of the card from corner to corner and liked that idea!  The finished result looks as if it's a three fold card when it's not as you open the card as normal

I added two magnets to keep the card front in place otherwise it would 'waggle' about and I can't be doing with that

A sentiment was stamped onto ivory card and the edges distressed with 'peeled paint' distress ink
I made a slightly larger vellum envelope and used my crop-a-dile to punch a hole and insert an eyelet.  I made the envelope larger in the event I wanted to add money to it

I used a Martha Stewart punch on the top fold and distressed that with the same 'peeled paint' distress ink

When you open the card there is enough space to write your own personal message

This is the 'Friday Freebie' ladies.  Please leave me a comment by 6pm tonight to have your name entered into the draw and I will announce the winner on tomorrow' blog post

I am having to take a week off from blogging, I need to recharge the batteries, if possible, and  I have some other personal work that I need to address and have in order for about six week's time

Until tomorrow....

FOREVER

Good morning one and all....

The beautiful paper I've used on today's card was bought, many years ago, whilst holidaying in Canada.  It's a 12"x12" (I bought several for scrapbooking!)  and every time I see it in my stash I always think I should do something with it!  So I have for today's card

The tree, as you can easily see on the image below, is a sparkly dark green and the background is a mottled grey

I love the single word of 'forever'

I backed this onto a slightly larger piece of white card then the black base card

I am thinking about a frame for it, or, as it's my brother's birthday tomorrow, stamping 'brother' underneath the 'forever' and giving it to him.  Time will tell but either way brother's birthday card has to be hand delivered today!

Until tomorrow....
