Good morning blog friends....

My absence yesterday was because of the rheumatoid, it's really affecting the whole of my body, especially though, my hands and feet.  It's been a battle since last taking rheumatoid medication in December and it'll be towards the end of September when I can restart it again.... 9 months!  That's when I finish the TB medication!  I sound as if I should be shot lol, but, a 'fighter' I am and I do my best not to let it get the better of me (some days)

Down to business.  My two cards today were made so that I could enter the 'Twofer Card Challenge #17'  and the theme is bees.  You make two different cards using the same theme.  Here is the link if you would like to see what the talented DTs have made and a few of the entries:

This first card, point to point, is a 6" square.  I used several distress oxides for the background colour and added little splodges of dots using a very small freebie stamp

I then stamped the rose images using another DO ink and coloured with a ProMARKER.  I also added NUVO Crystal Drops in 'morning dew' on both rose buds and around the card

A watercolour pencil was used to mark a frame and the sentiment was stamp with a DO ink, die cut and embossed then colour added around the edge.  I added mounting foam to the back and placed it onto the card

I have only one bee stamp and that is a little on the large size (you'll see this on the second card) and far too large for the small roses, so I stamped the image onto shrink plastic, coloured it, cut it out and added heat to shrink it

  • broken china/fired brick/fossilized amber/ground coffee/picked raspberry Distress Oxide Inks - Ranger
  • bee stamp - unknown
  • tulip yellow - ProMARKER
  • morning dew NUVO Crystal Drops - Tonic
  • african violet watercolour pencil - Tonic
  • shrink plastic -

For the second card I went for a 'fun theme'.  Using a DL size card and my one and only bee stamp I stamped the bees around the card and also did some second generation stamping

The bees were coloured with a ProMARKER and I typed the sentiment, added several zs, distressed the edges with the same ProMARKER  as well as curling the yellow tourbillon to hang from the sentiment

I also stamped and coloured a been on the corner of the envelope

  • bee stamp - unknown
  • tulip yellow - ProMARKER
  • yellow tourbillon - my stash
I would like to enter the following challenge:
                                      Twofer Card Challenge # 17
Last week's embossing folder wasn't claimed so it is up for grabs again today

The bottom right corner shows you the design

Leave me a comment if you would like your name added to the draw.  You have until 6pm Saturday to do this
We use Random.Name Picker to choose a winner therefore it doesn't matter if you have won previously.  We also ship internationally at our own expense

Until tomorrow....

  3. Fabulous cards, love them both. Hope you feel better soon June

  4. Insects seem to be in vogue at the moment but bees seem so much nicer and not a "bug" at all. Love the stamp and I am only sorry you have been feeling so unwell again. Thinking of you, June.

  5. Despite your illnesses you have been a busy little bee (sorry but couldn't resist)
The flower card is truly beautiful and the bee one could be sent to either sex. Shrink plastic is a good medium I have used it for several projects mainly with the grandkids.
I hope your pain eases up soon June, take care xxx

    Hugz Tinz

  9. Sorry to hear you had a bad day yesterday, hope you've been feeling better today. Two beautiful cards. I love the delicate colours on your first card and your clever idea to use shrink plastic to make the bee the size you needed. Another great idea to use the bee stamp to cover all over your second card. xx

  10. Oh, I'm so sorry that you're still struggling and I hope that making your cards helps take your mind off your pain. These are both really pretty, and that stamped bee background is especially lovely.

  11. Wonderful shaped large card for your first design, June, and a tall fun card covered in bees for your second design! Well done, stamping the envelope, too! I had to click to enlarge to find your little shrink plastic bee on your flower, but I found it! Goodness, that's thinking outside the box! I haven't had a play with shrink plastic in ages. Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #17 and I hope you have better, less painful, days ahead! Hugs, Darnell

  12. Two gorgeous cards June, love them both, xxxx

  13. Two lovely cards June. I especially like your first one with the delicate colours in the background and the pretty stamp that you've used. I'm sorry to hear that you've not been too good health wise and I wish you well. Crafty hugs, Sandra x

  14. Such pretty roses with the soft inking on your first card, June ... and a fun, busy bee second card ... love how the yellow tourbillon adds a sense of movement to all those buzzing friends! Hope your days become easier. Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita :)

  15. So glad you joined in the fun with us at the Twofer Card Challenge even with the challenge of only having one bee! Your ink blended colors and the rose are so bright and cheery on your "with love" card, and I love how you used first and second generation inking on your "busy bee" card. Again, thanks for playing!
