Good morning blog friends....

I hope you're having some good weather.  Yesterday was sunny here but also with a breeze, I ended up having to wear a cotton top, then a jumper on top of it followed by a long, chunky cardi-jacket!  Wasn't feeling at all well either so that may have had a lot to do with it

Good morning blog friends....

I thought I would use one of the many backgrounds I created using the nail polish technique.  I love how the colours have blended on this piece and the pretty shade of green gives it a subtle look

I added a slightly larger panel of black card then wrapped black jute twine around one side and finally adhered it to the white DL size card

Several flowers were made in black and red using one of John Lockwood's die sets, and I decided not to add any leaves, instead I had a good titter reading yet more of Tim Holtz's 'small talk' stickers and plumped for the one shown on the card

  • DL white card
  • black card - Creative Expressions
  • background - nail polish technique/Poppyfield Card Crafts
  • black jute twine & black gems- CE
  • starflowers die set - John Next Door JNDAD001 (there is also the starflower leaves die set available JNDAD002, available from The Ducks Doodahs, an online store and very reasonably priced)
  • sentiment/'small talk' - Tim Holtz
  • red gems - Hobby House
Here is this week's freebie:

Good morning blog friends....

I was so pleased with my small craft haul from Hobbycraft, not forgetting the Heidi Swapp packet of ephemera from Amazon

Most of the items are crying out for mini albums and I'm so looking forward to using them

You may see something you'd also like to buy when you watched the video

Good morning blog friends....

Well, in a fashion, I did eventually get there with the video, unfortunately it's upside down!  I wish I could record hysterical laughter here

It's only the beginning of the video that looks a little funny, when I'm dipping the cardstock into the mixture it's quite presentable, that's my story and I'm sticking to it

Hubby and I have a busy week ahead and it could, possibly, go into the middle of next week.  As it is, yesterday we were out most of the day attending medical appointments, this time for Steve!  Which brings me to the give-away card.  I do try to schedule and/or have cards ready but I've not been able to finish the one planned for today, hence I'm using one from a few weeks back and here it is

The flowers are embossed on this one and there is an insert with a sweet verse.  I also stamped the envelope, so a complete package

The stamp is from the online store InLoveArt, I will post the link on tomorrow's blog.  The cost of the stamp is so cheap!  Their posting is very quick considering it comes from China!

As always if you would like to give this card a new home please comment on this post by 6pm Friday.  We use Random.Name Picker to choose a winner therefore it doesn't matter if you have won previously

We also ship internationally at our own expense

Until tomorrow....

Good morning blog friends....

Another disaster trying to video this technique!  After, at least 8 sessions, I've had to admit defeat and when our 11 year old grandson gets to his dad's today from school, we'll be hot footing over there for him to show both grandparents what 'we' are doing wrong!

I used to record using my iPhone 5 but it would take a few hours to upload to YouTube so last week when it was my birthday my son really surprised me by  buying me an iPhone 7.  That was totally unexpected and I really appreciate him doing this.  So now the videos upload in next to no time  and, when I showed you the video of the mini album made with 5"x7" cards and the 4" card that folds away, both were recorded on the new mobile, not a problem until yesterday when I was making the video for today.  I'm hoping sometime today there will be a video uploaded!

It's a little similar to the 'shaving foam' technique but with the nail polish the water doesn't get 'murky' as it does using shaving foam and alcohol inks

This card does have a definite marble look but the other samples, that you will eventually see, don't so much

I've used another one of Tim's 'small talk' sayings on today's card

Finally do you think anything else could go wrong?.... of course it could, it's me lol.  I realised after I'd taken the photo that there was a smudge of red on the sentiment and then realised again, I had the card upside down when I adhered the sentiment in place!  Obviously I found this out after the wet glue was completely dry

You live and learn....

A close up of said sentiment

Until either later or tomorrow, or both!...

Good morning blog friends....

I've mentioned previously how I love this particular stamp (unnamed) so I decided to make a small card using the stamp and a few embellishments

The card base is 13.5cm x 10.5cm  and I stamped directly onto the card using a NUVO hybrid ink pad.  I didn't quite stamp a few places but liked how it looked and decided to leave it that way

Where it's coloured on the butterfly, when stamped, it leaves a blank space, I wanted a little colour there and used a watercolour pencil to fill that space, still leaving spots of white

The two wooden embellishments seemed to be ideal to use and they were adhered to the card with wet glue

I love this sentiment!  It's part of a huge set by Tim Holtz, there are 218 of these funny, a little cheeky and sometimes, sarcastic comments and I don't think there's one I don't like.  I added a small white border to the sticker, curved it using my bone folder, only glued both ends then attached it to the card base

As I had a blank space on the right of the card (I should have cut that away) I added the black 'HI'  to it.  I will make this again but omit the 'HI'

  • white card base - my stash
  • stamp - unknown
  • acorn brown hybrid ink pad - Tonic
  • watercolour pencil #075 - Spectrum noir
  • wooden elements - The Range
  • sentiment - 'Small Talk' Tim Holtz TH93704
Until tomorrow....

Good morning blog friends....

I made this small card for our grandson to give to his dad for 'father's day'.  We had to go to the village, where Max lives, so that he could write the card and the gift tag, hence the background on the photos as they were taken on our card seat lol

I must confess that half of it was made for last year but I obviously changed my mind and made a different one!  It's amazing what you find when sorting out bits and pieces in your stash boxes!

I used a coffee coloured cardstock that I made into a 6"square and die cut a smaller panel, same colour, to go onto the base card

A smaller panel was then cut and embossed and I matted that onto white card prior to adhering onto the base card

Two flags were cut from paper from my stash.  I die cut the 'Happy Father's Day' and embossed it using the coffee coloured card and the paper.  I overlapped it slightly to give a shadow affect

I typed the sentiment then die cut it and embossed.  I kept the card in the die and added a little distress ink onto it

The insert was stamped and I made a small pocket to house the tag

The tag was actually on the wrapped gift with a little note to say "please place tag inside your card"

  • coffee cardstock - Creative Expressions
  • papers - my stash
  • Happy Father's Die and AWESOME dies - Cut & Make
  • stamps from the card insert - magazine freebies
