PRODUCT REVIEW & CAKE!

Good afternoon my crafty friends

As the heading states I have a product review and a cake for you today!

I've wanted this tool for quite sometime and it was delivered a few days ago

I have the MONO eraser which is really good but as the Creative Detailer was getting so many positive comments I thought I would have one.  I've mentioned several times that I have long standing rheumatoid disease (51 years)  plus osteoarthritis and my thinking was that I would only need to hold this tool lightly and it would do the work for me, as in erase the odd ink mark that sometimes happens when I'm stamping....

Sadly it hasn't worked for me

So.... cake.  As you know our grandson had his 12th birthday the very beginning of April and because of COVID-19 etc etc we've not seen him 'in the flesh' but today my son is bringing him to ours so Max can have his birthday present, Easter gift and, of course, his birthday cake.  I must say that Max will be staying in dad's car and I will be at the front door with my son passing the presents and cake to him.  Another year without cuddles, the same happened last year when I had shingles followed immediately with TB!

Some of you lovely people know that my hubby and I bought an established sugarcraft shop when I retired from the NHS, I also introduced card craft products too, my biggest passion.  I wasn't going to personally make and decorate any cake orders as I had someone else to undertake that role, unfortunately it didn't work out and I was then making the odd cake order.  Had it not been for my very talented hubby (I've trained him well)  I would not have been able to do what I did, mostly the finishing touches.  We did meet some very nice and supportive customers, and quite a few have become friends

I couldn't get anything boyish for sprinkles via Amazon, plenty choice for girls,  so had to use the ones above.  It's a 6" rainbow cake and stands 8" tall.  I put the candles around the edge to try and make it more 'boyish', kind of like a 'sputnik' thingy ma-jig.... that's my excuse haha

Thank you for visiting today and for your lovely comments on yesterday's card

June x

  1. Hello June, well I have sympathy with you on two counts today as I also have arthritis in my hands and knees. I'm not really sure what set it off but it's been really painful over the last three weeks, especially my right knee. I've used gel, strong painkillers and I've had a bag of frozen peas on it, which does seem to have helped a little. I've just thrown everything at it in the hope that I will be able to go to work tomorrow! Secondly, I'm blessed to have seen my grandchildren but boy am I missing my Sandma cuddles. It must have been so hard for you not to have seen your grandson for so long, so my heart goes out to you. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't craft but it does worry me at times like this. Take care of yourself and hopefully, this will soon be over. If there's no spikes in a couple of weeks after the queues yesterday, then to me it will feel like time to come out of hiding! Crafty hugs, Sandra x

  2. Sandra I can truly emphasise with you. My hands are really causing problems as well as feet, both knees (and I had a knee replacement 5 years ago) and shoulder. We just have to keep taking the pills and try to do a little exercise, and it is little for me, when we can

Roll on when we can cuddle our grandchildren. Take care of yourself too Sandra

  3. What a shame this gadget didn't work for you!! It looks such a useful piece of equipment - maybe this is not something to buy!!
Like a lot of people - shielded or not - I am only too grateful that I like playing with 'bits of paper' - - the weeks have not really dragged for me at all - and I do think the weather has helped! Take Care!
Oh - and I hope the cake got home safely!!!

  6. What a shame that the product doesn't work for you. I've just watched the Gentleman Crafter's video too and his tool doesn't seem to stop and start. Looks like you might have a faulty one. Amazing cake - great idea to have the candles around the side. xx

  8. Hello June, what a pity the gadget didn't work for you. I have arthritis too in my hand, well fingers too and my toes, and then gout which is a form of the condition, but thankfully I'm still able to do what I like doing. I hope you can find something that will help you to erase.
Well what a cake, it's fabulous, and I'm sure your Grandson will love it.
It must be so hard on Grandparents not to see or have a hug with their Grandchildren. I don't have any, but I am missing my Grandpets lol, my son and his wife are animal people and I have missed Milo and Rowan, a black lab and a cocker spaniel, they are such fun, but as we don't yet know if dogs can carry the disease, we have stayed away from them, not quite the same as children, but there you go, you take care, Kate x
